Question Mercedes Me Expiring

My 2021 GLE 450's Mercedes Me service is expiring in 10 days. I'm debating whether to renew ($150 per year) or not. The most often used feature is sending navigation addresses from the phone app to the vehicle (much easier than entering it in the navigation).

Anyone else debating (or debated) renewal and reason for YES or NO?

I renewed because I use the remote start feature. Remote start will be disabled without the Mercedes Me app

I also send destinations from it. As you stated, much easier then entering in Nav. Other key items for me are:

- Vehicle status - I am constantly checking to see if hatch is open. This does happen more than it should.
- Remote Start
- OTA updates - not a game changer, I just like to see if any were applied.
- I use "Vehicle Search" to keep tabs on vehicle when being serviced. Sometimes they tell me it is still being worked on, yet I see it in the parking lot, and not in service bay. Then after a day or two of not moving, I'm told it is ready to be picked up.

Nothing of "real" value that I couldn't do without, but for $12.50 a month, i'm not going to complain.

I did without it for 2 months and the fact that I wasn't getting the OTA updates or vehicle status did me in.
If I can swing a $4.50 cup of coffee from time to time, I sure as hell can justify $12.50 p/month.

My vehicle is currently at the dealership for the safety recall and I'm able to see where it is, if it's been moved, driven, etc. Worth it to me.

My hatch was also opening unintentionally. I found that if I keep my fob in my pant pocket, sometimes the pressure of my pants when moving from sitting to standing, would put pressure on the Fob hatch "Open" button and unintentionally open the hatch. My hatch has unintentionally opened into my garage door a couple times and caused some paint damage until I learned not to keep my fob in my pocket. I also came out to my car in the parking lot with the hatch open. There is a service bulletin someone posted in this forum to reprogram the fob to use a double click to open the hatch instead of a single click.

Vehicle status and remote start is what makes it useful for me. Recent Mercedes Me. update changed the interface so you can easily see fuel level on the front page, looks nice.

I would love to see that service bulletin if anyone come across it. My dealership told me they couldn't do anuthing about it.

If you are using navigation, then it's not just sending destinations to the car. I'm assuming you also want live traffic and map updates. So that's already two additional services that you are using. As stated above, the remote control and vehicle status services can be useful. Things like getting an alert on your phone if you forget to lock the car, or things like low battery warnings. I don't use remote start, but being able to lock/unlock from the phone is handy if I don't have the fob on me or if I need to lock it remotely. Occasionally if I park in an unfamiliar area, being able to find the car location in the app is useful, although my iPhone does this out of the box for any vehicle that uses BT or CarPlay, so it's somewhat redundant. However, I also use geofencing and have fences set up around my dealership and indy, so I'll get notified if the car is taken off premise and I can actually keep an eye on it. Using the vehicle status you can tell when they are working on it and when the car is just sitting in the lot.

Being able to keep tabs and control my car from my phone is in a way an extension of my smart home. I can already control and monitor my house from my phone and have a professionally monitored alarm system. Having the same kinds of capabilities for the car is kind of a no-brainer. Law enforcement can track it if it gets stolen and I also know where it is at all times and what the status is.

I'm definitely renewing.

But are you sure it's expiring?
My 21 GLE 53 was manufactured March of 21.
When I went to check available renewals prior to the 3-year anniversary, I found nothing could be renewed.
It's still the case, and all my Mercedes me functions still work. And I have the new app.

When was your delivery date?

The complimentary period starts with the activation date, not the build date. They also changed from 3-year down to 1-year. I thought that change was effective for MY21, but could be MY22. My services expired exactly 3-years from when they were activated. Because I did European delivery, my car was built in February, but I didn't activate the services until September when the car arrived in the USA, so the services expired in September three years later and renewal was possible within a month of expiration.

Unfortunately I'm sure it's expiring because I'm getting renewal reminder emails on almost daily basis. LOL

Yes, it's been 3 yrs since I activated the service.

I guess I'll be renewing it especially since my wife likes the features.

I was told, by dealership, that it was 3 years on my '22, but I needed to renew the following year. I called MB and they told me it had changed.

I absolutely despise buying subscriptions! However, I sucked it up and bought the $150 all in one offering MB has out this year. Last year's ala carte offering ws easier to swallow.

You could try:
Telephone – 1-800-367-6372
Email – me-connect.usa@cac.mercedes-benz.com (refund not finalized via e-mail until confirmation from live agent)

"Note: If a Customer terminates these Terms because the Customer has rescinded the purchase or lease contract to a new vehicle or terminates these Terms for good cause, then Customer may request a refund. Provider reserves the right to grant or deny such refund in its discretion. "

When I traded in my 2017 GLE in March for a 2024 GLE, my Mercedes Me for my 2017 had JUST auto-renewed like a few weeks prior. When I called and canceled, they did give me a prorated refund which was most of what I paid for the renewal.

I ended up renewing the subscription. $12.50 a month so it's less than Netflix. LOL

I love all of the Mercedes Me services and as much as I hate being nickel and dimed, I renewed them on both cars.

I value other features more than map updates. They have directed me across golf courses in the past.

I can hear the navigation voice already "in 300yrds take a swing." I guess GPS took driving a little too seriously.
