2024 Advice
Hello All,
I’m moving from W222 to a new 2024 GLE350.
Before I sign the papers, I have two questions for the group
How is the ride on 21” rims? I believe the tires are not RF
My other question: are the running boards functional for a 5’ person or it’s just for looks?
Thanks

Are you sure you don't want the 450? Also Amex has $3k incentive if you aren't aware. https://amexnetwork.truecar.com/

Get the air suspension. It allows you to lower the car a couple of inches to make entry and exit easier. It will also make the ride better with larger wheels.

5' person. Yes. My mother and mother-in-law use them to get in and out, they are of equivalent height. There was another poster somewhere in the 167 threads where he opted for the running boards for his spouse with similar stature.

Regarding the AMEx deal, I was able to negotiate over 9% off MSRP and the best deal on my trade in.
Any other savings that I may have missed, let me know
Thanks

Why the 450? I drove both and after coming from the power of the W222 seems I don’t need that torque any longer and didn’t notice great difference in power.

I'd skim this thread to make sure you are happy with your decision.
BTW, for taller people the running boards are generally of no use other than getting your pant leg dirty as you extend your leg past them (they aren't functional for taller people) - not much of an issue where I live but I can imagine it could be annoying for those who live in winter climates where all that frozen road slush gets caked onto them. I do prefer the look of the vehicle with them but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it didn't have running boards.
Also, 20" tires are the easiest to shop for if you require winter or all season tires, they have over twice as many options. You also gain additional side wall for added comfort. However, I do prefer the look of the 21" and 22" wheels better.

I think you can still apply the Amex deal on top of what you negotiated. BTW, 9% is the most I've read so far in terms of recent discounts/negotiations. Nice job with that. I think Sam's club might offer a cash incentive and maybe here: https://www.mbca.org/. I'm not sure if these other deals are stackable onto your negotiated price.

Look at the 450e. Best of both worlds. Smooth responsive electric drive with the 350 engine for long range and extra power when needed. Gov incentives can help the price.

Be really, really sure you are happy with this vehicle. I had a GLE 350 loaner for a week and I was so happy when I got back into my W222. A lot of it is the 4 cyl and the basic suspension. I also had a GLS450 for a week and was again very happy to get back into the S Class, but the powertrain on that was much better.
