Prodigy RF for GLE

I have a 2016 GLE300d with towing package, and I'm planning to purchase a Casita travel trailer with 3500 GVW. Now, a trailer brake controller is necessary to be able to control the trailer's brake. Does anyone have an experience with Prodigy RF? Some people wrote on Amazon.com that the advanced trailer electronic on some trucks does not work well with the Prodigy RF controller. Any comments will be appreciated.

I ordered the Tekonsha P3 (90195) as I wanted to hardwire it. Also, everything I read mentioned that the Prodigy RF had to be paired on another vehicle 1st, before being used on the W166/X166 vehicles. I haven't installed it yet but will early next week. Will be towing a travel trailer 2 weeks from now.

Thanks skw! What kind of adapter will you use between the GLE's trailer brake wiring harness and the P3 controller? Did you purchase a "pigtail" and modify the end wirings?

I found a doc somewhere on here that addressed connecting an aftermarket brake controller. It gave p/n's for the parts to make a connector to make w/ the factory conector already in the vehicle. It was the connector body, and 4 pins. Got the from my dealer, wasn't expecting it to run $40 incl tax.

Couldn't find the harness anywhere in the driver's side footwell this evening...

As an update, I stopped by the dealer yesterday. They were at 1st skeptical as they had no documentation on there being a connector and what I had the t/b I had in hand was dated from '07 and applied to the W164. But they were good about it and let me come down into the shop to show where I was looking. They found one doc that only said it would be in the front left and then another tech said he did one on a GLS and it was behind the parking brake switch. On my car after pulling out the driver's seat and removing the carpet, they found it almost below the gas pedal. Didn't realize that a wire I could see at the top of the carpet behind the pedals was actualy the wires going to the harness.

The pdf w/ the p/n's to make your own adaptor has you getting 1 pin in a small size. You're better off getting all 4 of the larger size. The harness that came w/ the P3 was long enough that I put the pins and connector right on the end of those wires. On the black power wire, I cut it about 3/4 of the way and attached a self resetting 30A breaker.
