Yes Sir. Get one of these. Plug it into the USB port in the center console and forget about it. It'll hold thousands of songs. Also, the low profile design doesn't get in the way or risk accidentally bumping it.

12 CDs makes sense. The hard drive is 10GB. one CD is about 700MB so 12 CDs would be up to 8.4GB. Take into account the fact that the hard drive is formatted, therefore less than 10GB are available, and that some other applications (like navigation) also take up some space... The proper way to use your hard drive is to copy MP3s on it. You will multiply the amount of tunes you have by at least a factor 10.
