Engine oil for 2016 GLE350?

Checking the Operator's Manual, I could see that for gas engines the MB approval is 229.5, which i found here: https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html

How do I understand the information on the above page? Does that mean I am free to choose among: 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30, 5W-40?

Pick based on your climate. 0W-40 gives you the widest range.
I have been using that forever.

i live in New Jersey, would 0w-40 be good enough for me? Also what's the engine oil filter I should use?

0W-40 or 5W40 is what I'd use for my 2016 GLE 350. The 0W or 5W is the winter rating the oil is good down to and both Mobil 1 oils for the 0W-40 and 5W-40 are 229.5 rated although the 0W-40 carries more foreign car approvals. With both the 0W-40 and 5W-40 covering the same summer range, I'm looking to use the 0W-40. At least one local dealer goes for the 5W-40 since it seems to be what they get in bulk, but we rarely see -25 degrees F, let alone -30 so it's easy to consider the wider approved 0W-40 Mobil 1.

I used to just grab a filter from the dealer, they're cheap enough.

Both 0W40 and 5W40 are good for GLE 350D.
0W - means its less thick, better cold start and about 3% better fuel economy, slightly more engine wear.
5W- a bit thicker than 0W, not as much fuel economy, but it lubricates better and protects the engine.

So if your cayohas less miles in it gonwith the 0W, if it already has above 100K miles / 160 k kilometers better to use 5W and sacrifice on the fuel economy in order to have less engine wear.

0W40 and 5W40 works DO NOT put in the W30 grade. You will regret it later on due how thin the 30 weight oil is.

I use Mercedes OEM Filters that I order online. I only use Ardeca Lubricants oil (my shop carries it).

I should of check the date first before posting, lol.
