Sound like a good deal to me. I had mine ordered last Jan and I received roughly 8.7% off MSRP. Also there isn't much change between the 2016 and 2017 model. So I think it's a fair deal.

Lots of talk here about the poor lighting of the standard headlights. Suggest doing a little more research, and at least drive the car at night before you buy.

Not a good deal. During this year labor day:
I got my 2017 GLE350 Premium 2 with lighting package
MSRP $ 61110, 13% off, plus California tax = final OTD $ 57750
Which is an insane deal - I dont think any of the winter season sale can beats.
You might as well just wait till next year labor day.

The only constant in comparing prices on new cars is the MSRP. Receiving a 15% discount versus a 13% discount simply means one saved 2%, which I always thought was the objective. Similarly equipped vehicles will have the same MSRP wherever you go in the country. That being said, if one is a 2017 and the other is a 2016, that certainly would factor into the quality of the deal.

It is not bad. But I think you can do a little better.
Since it is a 2016. Plus, year end. I think you can try to get 18%.
2017, maybe 13-15%.

I tend to find none of this info helpful. I think people don't accurately represent the numbers nor do I feel they are honest. They might get 18% off and have their trade way undervalued but feel like they "won". I am not saying any of you are lying, I am saying the internet is not an honest place and its about more than discounts off MSRP.

Not sure why you said this. Did you get much less discount on your purchase?
I don't represent everyone who responded on this thread, but the numbers are pretty accurate. It is not uncommon for dealers to give 12% to 13% off MSRP on a high production car like C Class, E Class, and GLE without any negotiation.
Then depends on the options or model year, dealers may be willing to give even more discount to move the car off the lot (like light color interior, no sunroof, etc). Two years ago, I bought a brand new 2014 E350 4 matic with 19% discount. You can get $24,000 off a $90,000 2016 Maserati Ghibli. That's 26% discount!
The GLE 350 that AndrewK mentioned looks like a pretty standard, lightly optioned vehicle. A mid cycle facelighted 2016 GLE/ML in year end, I think 18% isn't unrealistic.

It has nothing to do with my discount, I am happy with what I paid for my ordered 350. I have no interest in getting into a competition with who got the best deal online nor do I care what anyone has. I am pointing out there are other factors and what is represented here is not the only factor. People often think they won but really the dealer did. I have completed a number of auto purchases to feel confident in my knowledge and opinion. I am just more skeptical than some. Big house and big car doesn't make a rich man; its all about the bottom line. Can't judge from one factor.

I can understand that you have your priorities and experiences. My priorities come from 40 years experience selling them and I have found getting the car I want with the largest discount off MSRP is the Holy Grail of shopping.

That would certainly be one opinion. I can only voice my experiences. As a retired new car dealer, I have followed this forum and used it to buy four Mercedes since I retired. I saved substantial amounts on each of them by using numbers people posted. Mercedes invoice numbers are useless as much of their ability to discount comes from manufacturer marketing dollars. Current actual transactions reported here are a true indicator in many cases of potential savings.

That is my point, I have done this professionally as well. I was not saying that the numbers were wrong I am saying there other factors that are not represented here. If you want 18% off and max trade and no points/low MF then how do you think they make money? Its a business not a charity. The point is deals can be had but often require flexibility. The offer 12.25% off for employee's, just saying. As far as marketing/trunk money that will vary. I just don't find this information useful, then again I don't need someone online to tell me how to get a good deal. To each their own.

In my years as a dealer, the only people who cared if I made money were my wife and my Banker. Certainly not the factory and certainly not my customer! If you have done anything at all "professionally" in the business, you know you are always going to get wholesale for the trade and need to be smart enough to shop financing on your own. I for one know how to get the "deal", I just need to know a ballpark that is possible and for that I like to use all the resources a forum of this type offers.
