Car wash
Dealer told me the drive through car wash might damage the paint since it uses harsh brushs. Not sure if that is true for my regular polar white paint ( not the designo paint) .
Do you guys wash your GLEs with the services using such drive thru machine ? It looks like most detail service use it. I'm living San Francisco Bay Area , if you know some good car wash service, could you please share?
Thanks and happy new year!

Personally, I never use any type of automated car wash. Too many nightmare stories from people I know. I've seen shark fin antennas ripped off, wheels scratched, paint damaged, etc. I'll be having paint protection film applied to my car when it's delivered. This is the sign I'll use to make sure the dealer NEVER washes my car.

If it fits in the automatic wash track, I'll send it through. (I've had one MB that wouldn't fit) I will also say I see tiny scratches (that can be buffed out) more often at auto car washes.
I just wished there was a good washer and excellent waxed business near me.

I used to go to the drive thru car wash with my ML, but it did scratch the paint on the long run. It was very visible with a flashlight from close by. After 18 months I spent one weekend buffing out the car with a power polisher. The result was excellent but it was so much work that I decided to not wash my car in drive thrus anymore. Now I switched to a GLS and got it detailed with ceramique coating that helps protect the paint. And every other month I get the detailer back to clean the car by hand. It's costly but the car is always looking stunning this way. I'll post a couple of pics of my ML and GLS after detailing.

We have a hand car wash a few blocks from my house, that's my preferred car wash. If I use an automated car wash, it has to be the soft cloth type. I've seen scratched after only one car wash with brushes.
