Any info about the GLE 300 (petrol, not diesel)
Hello. My MB dealer is offering my a GLE 300 with a 2000 turbo petrol engine, delivering 245hp / 5500 and 370 nm / 1300-4000 with 0 to 60 at 8.6 secs. It comes with 4MATIC and a 7G-TRONIC. I've been searching all places via google about such model "GLE 300" not "GLE 300D" nor "GLC 300" with no avail. The salesman told me they are offering this engine in Europe as a response to forthcoming cease of diesel engines motors by MB in 2020. I haven't test drive it yet buy I fear that the engine won't deliver the enough power to move to acceptable speed the car.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

I dont think that a 2000cc engine is enough for an GLE SUV, even the 3000cc engine needs more power. Paying >$50,000 for a car, it wont matter if you add additional $6,000-$8,000. When you buy the 2000cc you will say why I didn’t take the 3000cc one, even if you are satisfied with it! Take it from me, i owned many car, whenever i see a car loader more than mine i say why i didnt buy the most loaded one? As i said, couple of thousands wont matter, as these thousands will benefit you when you sell it again.

The GLC is available with that 4 cylinder engine, not the GLE. I have driven the GLC 250 with 210 HP on the German highway and it has enough power and a sporty sound but it's not smooth like 6 cylinder. I have read that the GLE is getting a 4 cylinder 299HP with electric motor like the new inline 6 engines sometime in future. When did your salesman say that 4 cylinder GLE is coming?

I was wondering where you are, your profile doesn't say. Maybe it makes sense to sell 4 cylinder GLE's in Costa Rica, when I was there I had a rental car and the fastest I could go was like 80km/h. In Germany they sell the entry level BMW 3 series with 3 cylinders, I was quite shocked when I found out about that.
