my gas lid won't open had to use the access panel in the rear to open gas lid anyone know why this is happening and how to fix

Yes it was unlocked. I was able to open the lid by the red lever in the access panel. Once open the little black button that openes and closes the lid you can push it and hear the motor trying to move the lever open and close. Sometimes it works sometimes it does nothing. Sometimes the lid opens and sometimes it doesn't. This just started today

OK, yours has a separate locking mechanism. It's a little different on the Coupe. Mine is connected to the central locking system. There is no little black button. When the doors are unlocked, the lid unlocks and opens by depressing it. When you lock the doors, the lid locks. Yes, that's a warranty repair.

I have been having the same issue with my 2016 GLE 400.

I will get cold and quit working, it's not frozen because I keep it in a 55 degree garage and it still won't open. Cheap design and I currently can't find or reach the interior release. I have the air suspension, which includes extra items in the rear access panel.

I dont have that issue on mine currently, but good to know that the access panel can be used in case of an issue.
