2016 GLE 350d
Anyone in Canada, Alberta more specifically bought a used GLE 350d and bought extended warranty? What are some options? Is it a good idea?
Thanks in advance. |
Manny I got your message but your account is set to not allow replies. You should have some factory warranty left, its good for 4 years, 80,000 km. I do think that 2 year extended warranty is a very good idea if you are going to keep it. One major repair and you will be glad you got it.
Enjoy the 350d. I love mine, its been the best Mercedes I have owned. LOVE the fuel economy of the diesel. Last summer I got 4 tanks in a row over 1,100 km each!! Amazing for a big heavy awd SUV. I have had exactly ZERO warranty issues since new other than they had to reboot my computer to fix an issue with my airmatic control defaulting to comfort setting when the auto stop/start would activate at a red light. I tend to keep it in personal setting of sport suspension and steering with comfort engine. Firm ride but best fuel economy and smooth driving. Enjoy! |
I will be purchasing an extended warranty - these diesel engines are great but one repair could set you back many thousands.

Is there anything I can do to help with winter fuel economy. I am in Edmonton, Alberta?
|
The bigger issue is to make sure you have winter diesel in your tank. These cars really don't like to run on summer fuel when it's below about -10 C.

I will be buying the 2 year extended warranty for my 350d just before the 4 year warranty ends in May. Cost is $3,399 and covers pretty much everything the original warranty did. Here are the details for it in Canada... https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/content..._EN_072019.pdf
I normally never buy any extended warranty or protection packages but I feel this is good insurance - if I buy it then there will never be a major repair. If I don't buy it for sure I will have a $7,000 repair a month after the warranty ends. :mercy: I will drive it for another 2 years as long as it remains problem free. I love it and its been a great vehicle so far. |

I have the 20” AMG wheel with Pirelli Scorpion tires and paid about $260 per tire at the dealer in Texas. you are getting a great fuel mileage. I was going to buy the diesel but gas in TX is like $0.40 per litre and diesel is 20-30 cents more expensive per gallon than regular gas. Also the Diesel engine was $3,000 more when we bought new. Now thinking about it I wish we got the diesel one, I does get better mileage for sure |

You probably don’t need it. After the 4 years, issues would have come up already. $3.3K for another 2 years.os a it too much, save your money

Odds are since it is a diesel, they will need the extended warranty. The OM642 is a ridiculously expensive engine to maintain/repair.
