Tire Air Pressure

Was wondering the age old question about tire pressure. My new GLE450 shows normal load 31 and 31, loaded 31 - 39 (think that's right) and the tires came from dealer at about 36 all the way around. Usually just me in the vehicle so would normal be the way to go? Why does the dealer never fill tires based on label even at service?

I think its fair to say they are playing safe and keeping tire pressure even and a little higher to account for tire pressure loss over few months etc. I am sure 35-36 Is a normal pressure for most cars and you can play around with it depending on comfort level or more handling feel.

I don’t know what you have for tires but mine call for 39 rear and 34 front. I have the AMG 20’s. That is cold, tire pressure can increase 2-3 degrees when hot. I always run more that they recommend. It’s strange to see so much higher in the rear that weighs less than the front with the engine. Might be for handling or towing.
Mine also shows-Extra Load- Front 38, Rear 48.

Mine are AMG 21" also I do have a trailer hitch.

I too have a hitch. I forgot to mention that the tire will have tire pressure info. Age old question....does Mercedes know best, the tire manufacturer, dealer, tire shop, etc. and how much flexibility do we have without adversely affecting the handling.

So, whats the suggested tire air pressure, should I lower to what they said in the gas cap?

In my experience with owning few MLs and X5s is to pick a good even tire pressure front and rear that is best for ride and handling feel. Also to pick the pressure that is not lower than rec pressure and higher than the highest pressure recommended and set a good pressure in between. I usually do 35/35 psi.
