GLE450 is "protected" and can't get one without a luxury car trade-in
Hi all,
So I just went to a Greater Toronto Area dealership to get a quote on a GLE450, and the salesperson said he can't get me one because I would be trading in a 2012 Subaru. He also said that the GLE has been "protected" for the last 3 years and it's not going to change. Is this with every Mercedes dealer? Seems extremely odd that BMW doesn't have this practice with a X5. I appreciate your inputs.
Thanks.

I am trading in a KIA so don't let them give you that BS. Obviously they can't put it on their lot for sale but they would normally wholesale it to a dealer who can.
They are probably just not seeing a decent profit from doing so, therefore their answer.

It's MB Canada's push back to cut back the "huge" # of V6 GLE's and GLS's that were purchased in Canada and shipped to China..
It's not MB/China's fault.. the manuf pay very/very hefty China duties to import.. private or "preferred" 3rd parties don't have to pay not-as-much..... actually both GLE w/3rd row option - and GLS w/Captain's chairs was added specifically to broaden MB's appeal for the Asian market......

Find anther dealer in uour area. Make an appointment with the general manager and strike a conversation. Ask to make a refundable deposit (not more than 500) to lock in your order and ask if you can configure a net star config.
Tell them you heard about delays and would like 5-10% discount if possible.
Sorry to to hear about that. I have extended family who are of Chinese origin, and Christ do they get the shaft by ignorant sales people....

There are 7 MB dealerships in the GTA(greater Toronto area) and all are owned by Mercedes Benz. Try out of the city if what you say is true.
