X6M to GLE63 Coupe?
Good morning boys and girls,
Interested to see if anyone switched teams and went from the X6M to the GLE 63 Coupe. I'm on my 4th X6, but the GLE keeps catching my eye.
I know I need to go test drive but it I'm interested in any first hand experience on how they compare in handling, ride, power, comfort...
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Currently F86 - '16 X6M. But I miss my '13 E71 X6M every day. The previous generation was a beast. It looked menacing and was just raw power. It was glued to the road - stiff, tight and planted. And the seats...oh how I miss those seats. The '16 just isn't the same. It's still a great vehicle but I don't think it compares to the previous generation.
I will say the 8 speed transmission is an improvement.
I have about a year left on my current lease and the GLE63 Coupe is really catching my eye, but looks aren't everything. I like to feel the road. I like stiff suspension, tight steering and of course the power. I have heard that the GLE Coupe is softer and cushier than the BMW, but of course that's from BMW Forums. I'm curious what GLE drivers have to say about the driving experience, reliability and what do you do for winter wheels?
Thanks.

We have a shy group here. 150 views and no comments? I won't bite, I'm just a girl...
I thought even if no one had experience with the X6M, I'd get all kinds of "I love my GLE63" comments and a bias towards MB.
I'll just sit here and watch for a while
Have a good day, everyone.

16 E550 Cab, 2003 Ram bright red crewcab 4x4 we call Clifford :)
The GLE is a rename of the ML series, I think the chassis and motor are very similar to my 2012 ML63...
Frankly it's a blast to drive. I currently have a loaner 2017 GLE350 and the dash and console are a little different... but the body is the same...
Ya need to go drive one, I have not driven any BMW's since Bangle got a hold of them so it's been awhile....
Oh wait we drove a M3 conv 2 yrs ago, my wife was frustrated with the controls..... we ended up with a 16 E550 Cab which we love.

YAY! We have signs of life. Thanks for the responses.
Mrmottoguzzi00 - I haven't driven anything but a BMW for the past 17 years. I truly enjoyed every single one but my first X6 blew me away. It was the 8 cylinder. I couldn't believe the difference in handling coming from the X5. It defied the laws of physics. I then went to the M and what more can I say. I do enjoy my current M but it's not as...I don't know, exciting? It's more refined I guess. I'm looking for something that will make me grin so much my cheeks hurt.
To some people, driving is just a way to get from point A to point B, so their vehicle is just that, something to get them from point A to point B. Me - I love to drive so I want be excited about my vehicle.
Mike450- I'll be watching for your comments if you pick one up. Good luck.
I need to see if I can do an extended test drive. No rush as I still have time. I'll keep you all posted but keep the comments coming.
Have a good day.

I've driven the current X6M, GLE63S and Cayenne Turbo S.
The Porsche is the best one from a driving standpoint. If you get the Turbo S version, the handling and grip is just sensational.
The X6M is also very good. Feels more agile than the GLE63S.
In terms of fun, for me the most fun cars are the ones you can just throw into a corner and know it will stick. Cars which can handle sports-car like driving. Given this I think the best SUV you can order right now is the GLC63S. The problem with the SUVs mentioned previously is that they are too big. That's why you prefer your original X6M.
The GLC63S is the ideal size. That size of SUV is light enough that it can deliver quality handling, and the new AMG 4.0V8 is a superb power plant paired with a really good transmission and new fully torque vectoring 4MATIC system.
If I was you I would order one of those. The GLE63S will be more of the same, and a little worse in terms of performance.

Stealth pilot - Thank you. That's what I was looking for. I need to google and see what rhe GLC is. If it's that small funky looking thing, it's not for me. I do agree with your statement about being able to throw it into a curve. My '13 was good at that. So was my '10. I did performance center delivery on my '10. They put me on the track with 3 3 series and I'm thinking WTF? Me at 5000+ pounds against little agile 3s. I tore it up. Started as the lead vehicle and wound up up the *** of the last 3 on the track. I couldnt believe how agile amd glued I was to the road zero body roll. It was really tough driving home from SC and behaving somewhat. I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it.
The Porsche doesn't thrill me looks wise. I did like the first pepper. It looked exactly what I would imagine a Porsche SUV should look like. Now. Eh.
I have time so hopefully something will excite me. Im a bit concerned they are changing the chassis on the X6 again instead of the normal facelift. I hope they don't water it down again.
This was typed on my phone so forgive any format or typo issues. Happy weekend to all.

This car is significantly better than your X6M in power:weight ratio, and it has that amazing AMG twin turbo V8.
Plus you can have it built with full nappa leather with diamond stitching and all the other bits and pieces that aren't even available on the GLE63S.

I must admit I do love my ride but it is a little soft to me...I have had it lowered and boosted by renntech but still a little soft to me....has a little too much squat and nose dive when on throttle and brakes...curves are pretty flat but still not as agile as I would like...however I prefer the looks and still fairly few 63 coupes on the road...can't say the same for the x6m

I worked at plant Spartanburg for 16 yrs, loved the x6m when it first came out, but I would not recommend any bmw with v8 motor. I own two benzs there geared more towards luxury with a Lil sportiness. Bmw's are fun but I love my benzs
Considering a red gle63 coupe myself

For people interested in this segment, the third generation porsche Cayenne will be announced on August 30th.
Initial signs are very encouraging.

pman and tblountman - appreciate the comments. I'll start doing some homework and hit a few dealers to kick some tires. It's a disease - 18 months to go and already thinking what's next.

After many long nights of endless web research and sleepless nights, I ordered the Trackhawk today.
Time for something completely different. 707hp and the exhaust/supercharger whine was to much to resist.
I strongly considered the GLC63, but ultimately it was too small.

I came from a '13 SRT Grand Cherokee to the GLE63 and haven't missed it one bit. I must admit I was tempted to wait for the trailhawk but was always somewhat disappointed with the fit and finish on the Jeep...however I had absolutely no issues or complaints about problems. I decided to go with the GLE and do a renntech upgrade and haven't looked back. Enjoy the SRT as it will be a beast.

Incidentally, test drove a 2017 gle63 coupe- what a beast!
Beautifully imposing and athletic ,I like its looks more then the outdated and kinda boring looks of the BMW x6m.
The interior reads from quality and the ride was excellent in every way,and it is it's a head turner and drives well both in the city and highway.
I'm still waiting to see what the new e63s is going to deliver, plus the new cls for next year, but so far the gle63s is on my short list.
Not much of a Porsche fan, but the new cayenne looks interesting.
To the OP, after 10 BMWs over the years, I jumped ship to mb amg, and never looked back. Try it ,you may like the mb amg platform a lot!!!!

Finally, looking at lightly used examples, there more Mercedes options for us and those were all CPO’d. My BMW dealer said they don’t certify M cars due to cost unless customers ask for them. Also as a disclaimer the BMW we drove wasn’t all well taken care of for a 2016 car.
Good luck and post your thoughts.
