Took the GLE lake drifting (clip)

I enrolled my daughter and myself in a day of snow/ice driving experience on a nearby lake put on by CPDA Driving Experience... https://www.instagram.com/cpda_yeg/

It was a fantastic well organized event of which I really wanted my daughter to get a chance to learn the true traits of her RAV4 and for me to get ot know this new GLE better.

I am running with - 4 Pirelli Scorpion Winter 21" (not my choice they came with the vehicle)
On my daughter RAV4 -4 Nokian Hakkapalita SUV8 studded

I gotta say the GLE is not a good candidate for this type of event...you really get to know the poor attributes of this vehicle in this application and they are:
-it's WAY too heavy for a drift car
-even with the nannies all off there still remains plenty of lingering electronics saying...nada...you're not going to get away with this
-the vehicle pushes..pushes ..pushes
-as I say traction control still intervenes somewhat...no actually alot and the way it spoils the party is by cutting the throttle not by applying brake so when you really want to get on it to get it into a wheel spinning mode...it shuts you down

And the ice was extremely rough ...in certain spots...where snowmobiles had traversed when the snow was slushy ...then it froze and I really didn't want to shake a bunch of rattles into the car so certain tracks (there were 6 different from oval skidpad, figure 8, autocross, medium speed and higher speed) like the medium and higher speed I did a few laps then watched jr do her thing...and certainly there existed possible damage if one were to crash into a snow bank...and crush in a side panel or bumper etc (of which some cowboy participants frequently did)

But all in all it was a great day....clear and very cold but...good time bonding with my youngest and a chance to get to know the capabilities and limits of the GLE

A quick clip junior took :

The results of one of the snow cowboys

GLE 63S
If you put it in dyno mode, all nanny controls would have been off.

Maybe explain procedure because there was a master tech there that knew nothing of such...he offered to pull fuse but I decided no to that

You go into maintenance mode in the dash and choose the option from there. It’s dangerous on the normal road. It’s a totally different vehicle so don’t do it in regular roads.

There was a professional video on YouTube where the speaker has the same drift issue on a drift track until Mercedes put it in the right mode to be able to drift.

Yes it would be an option but I think it also disables power steering which could make for a real challenge when trying to drift

The car goes back to regular mode after you turn it off and start it again right?

Here's what you do, I have a GLE63S as well so it'll work for you as well (the procedure should be the same for all MB cars though).

Remove KEYLESS-GO. Plug in your key, and turn it one click to the right to Position 1.

Once in Position 1, make sure the center screen shows your odometer information.

Now, press and hold the answer call button (above the voice control button) and the OK button (above the right arrow button) and hold them for around 5 seconds. Press the answer call button just before you press the OK button (if you press both together, mine registers the OK button first and asks to reset the odometer. I just pressed the answer call a few milliseconds before I pressed OK and it works). If successful, you'll see this screen. Scroll down and select Dynanmom. Test

In Dynamom. Test, you'll see this screen. The default mode is "Off When Ign. Off". Press OK and it will change to "Enabled". You are now in Dyno mode.

Once in Dyno mode, this warning shows up. When you start the car, you will have the ABS, TC, and another warning light show up on your right dash. To go back to normal mode, turn the car off, repeat the procedure to enter Dynamom. Test, switch the mode from "Enabled" to "Off When Ign. Off", and start the car again. Changes will be applied. Hope this helps!
