Transmission Issues
 

My GLE63 recently made it past the break in period, so I made the choice to do a few launches in Sport+ to see what the car has to offer. However, when shifting in the higher RPM areas (5000-5500)ish from 1st to 2nd gear, the car jolts like mad and feels like some invisible force shoved it from behind. Anyone else have this issue or have a clue as to what is going on? Thanks!

Funny I have never yet tried full accel...with winter and all...could you maybe have hit the rev limited ? Have you tried shifting manually ?

It does the same thing in manual mode, and no, I haven't hit the limiter. Everything is warmed up, and it's only the transition from 1st to 2nd at a high RPM that causes that jolt; every other gear change at a high RPM is perfectly fine.

Mine does that too - its normal (for the coupe, not sure about the normal SUV). It's basically like a huge gunshot going off. I am planning on maybe doing an X pipe to replace the stock resonators but I don't want to lose the hard bangs every time it shifts.

Wait really? That's really odd... Do you have any idea why that's the case?

It is the way AMG tuned the transmission in the coupe.

Very interesting. I thought the 1st-2nd jerk was a broken transmission, but from what I've seen now it seems appropriate to set aside any paranoia. Thanks for your responses!

Mine does it as well. Hard acceleration in first and second feels like someone put a big boot to its behind. I noticed in traffic when the transmission loads up around 2000 rpm and hovers for a few seconds for whatever reason it'll do a smaller shove too before upshifting. No big thing. At least it's not in the shop every other week like the C63S was. This thing is built like a tank.

Anyone got the downshift issue resolved? I have the 2020 GLE 350 with a service scheduled for tomorrow and I would like to provide a possible solution. It is too annoying and hard on my 10 days old baby.
