GLE63 AMGs
exhaust questions

Hi all,

new member and just just about to purchase a GLE63 AMGs has most of the options but is missing the sports exhaust.

Question on is how do you gain more out of the stock system without changing? I’ve called around and all I get is tuning dealers trying to sell me a full system. I know when I had the C63 6.3, I removed the secondary cat... if I remember right and this was perfect.

Hoping someone can help!

Not much gains on sport Vs regular exh. or even removing #2 cats. Sound may change some but virtually no power gains. All the power gains come up front with say down pipes. even cats on stock cars flow really well and not worth having emission issues for 10hp . For easy power gains and no tune needed, just put the cold air intake on. Very popular with the M157 engines. I gained 26 RWHP on my E63. http://ultimatepd.com/2011-2015-merc...boost-kit.html

Hi thanks for the reply, I’m more interested in just improving the sound slightly as per the sports. I find the standard to restricted on the pops etc.

Sadly there is no exhaust button on the W166 AMG GLE's even with the optional Performance Exhaust. I don't have Performance exhaust either. Some pops and crackles when placed in Sports Plus mode only. Strangely the W166 Performance Exhaust does not have any flaps or valves either. No cheap way to increase sound without down pipes and complete systems with valve control.

"down pops". Didnt know Renntech made down pipes for the GLE63 - don't see listed on their website.
