295/35R21 vs 295/40R21
Hello all. New to the forum and had a tire size question. Has anyone tried 295/40R21 on their GLE63 SUV? The 295/35R21 on the car now leave some to be desired in regards to ride quality. The biggest pain in the @$$ is when the tires get in the grooves on pavement. Feels like that sucks the car in and you have to tug the wheel pretty good to get it out of the groove. Also i think the ride quality would improve with a little thicker sidewall. Would there be any clearance issues with the slightly thicker sidewall? Also with being in Wisconsin im going with the PILOT SPORT A/S 3+. Thanks for any feedback & advise.

As far Pilot A/S +, while Pilot A/S + is clearly the best dry/wet A/S performing tire, both Conti DWS06 and Pirelli Scorpion Zero A/S + will provide better winter/snow traction/performance as well as softer ride quality. Ideally in WI, dedicated winter tires are the best winter choice, then Pilot A/S + will be great 3 season tire choice.

275-45-21 - will these pirelli snows fit? Might buy a used set off a guy that says he had them on his gle 63.
(existing size is 295-35-21 for the summers).
Just bought the vehicle and want some quick advice .... Thanks! (come with aftermarket "Niche" alloy wheels.)
.... I just found out that neither continental or Michelin tire websites provide tires in the 295-35-21 size for this vehicle -
SO I guess it's pirelli or Nokian only?
(or go down a size to 20s)

Went with the dealer recommendation for 20s and these factory AMG wheels - with Michelins!!

Just an update to this thread for anyone curious how 295/40R21 tires look on the third-gen GLE63. These are Continental CrossContact UHP (which are the same as factory tires), and are essentially just GLS63 tires. No rubbing, and steering still feels great. Went with the larger size to fill the wheel well more without lowering the car.

I know this is an old thread but the OP originally mentioned he was considering the Pilot Sport A/S+. I highly recommend you stay away from these. I went with these for my ML63 about 6 months ago and hate them. Hard as a rock, very poor grip even in dry weather and tramlines all over the place with grooves in the road. Ride quality took a nose dive when I got these. I came from Continentals and if I didn't already have another car on order, I'd swap out these tires for something else in a heart-beat. I love Michelins in general which is why I bought the A/S but I'm very disappointed with these tires.

Which continentals did you have that you liked? I was about to order the Pilot Sport A/S+ before I saw your post. Currently have the continental summer tires but need too switch to something that can work in occasional snow.

No issues 4 years later using the sizes I mentioned above (295/40R21) and putting about 4k miles per year on the car. The Continental CrossContact UHPs wore down, so I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires, still with no rubbing.
