Thoughts; CPO vs. Extended Warranty
Good morning all,
I've been keeping my eyes open for a GLE43 Coupe. Found one I like but it is not on a Mercedes lot. It's on a Porsche lot.
Of course, it is not a CPO. I've tended to focus my search on CPO vehicles.
What are your thoughts on the benefits / disadvantages of buying a CPO unit vs buying a unit and purchasing an Extended Warranty?

Are you talking about CPO vs ELW or just some aftermarket warranty? I have both CPO, ELW, and have had aftermarket companies that were better than CPO. I tend to buy sight unseen so I go with CPO since there is consistency and protection from MB if the dealer sells something that should not be CPO. MB ELW is better than MB CPO in that it covers more. With some more research, you may be able to find a great aftermarket warranty company. Look at the BBB page and if you see a ton of negative reviews or unresolved complaints you need to run.

I was speaking about an aftermarket warranty. Had not even considered an MB ELW as I did not know it existed.
If you don't mind, if I bought the car on a non-MB lot (Porsche) could I buy an MB ELW from my local MB dealership to add on?

Hello- Any tips/pointers? Looking to buy 2019 or 2018 AMG GLE 63s ....found one close by with everything I want as far as options but it is model year 2018 and 30K miles. It is of course out of warranty now and looking for options to purchase extended warranty. Any suggestions? Costs? Advice welcome here as well! Thanks in advance

Just spoke with Rafael this morning from Elmbrook Mercedes and he took care of extending my CPO warranty to 2025 on my 2018 GLE 63S Coupe. Super easy.
My car had factory 4 years, that expired in March, But it was a CPO car that has the additional year so it was good until March 2023, Now with two more years and unlimited mileage I'm good until 2025.

The ELW is also an inclusionary policy, not great when it comes to coverage, lots of posts about ELW issues, I've untangled a couple contracts myself for MBWorld members.

Don't see the 12' electronic screens/dashboard and NAV covered on the aftermarkets unless I missed it. Also no coverage for LED headlamps or LED interior lighting??

Aslong as the LED headlights are factory and not aftermarket, then yes they are covered.

Fidelity information: Page 4, Section 15, there is no mention of interior components or LED headlights being apart of the excluded components, so coverage they are covered under Fidelity Platinum.

100% claims acceptance on all of our customers, ALOT being members of this forum, between our two aftermarket providers Fidelity and Freedom Warranty... now a days with top tier companies (not the ones you see on TV or making robot calls), they're pretty good about sticking to the terms and exclusions.... I can't speak for CPO ELW coverage.
