How about a diesel option? I would be all over it.

Come on, Scott....you won't replace the GL with GLK, will you?

I was hoping for the 4cyl. I had heard that rumor a while back.

A small diesel would definitely make me take a look. Beside, I never get to drive it anyway.

Visor Extenders?

Hmmm... my visors extend just fine.

They slide out along the metal bar and will move as far as the back of the driver's (and passenger's) windows when fully extended.

Try pulling on it a little harder.

do you mean the visor will be pulled off the metal hinge?

I always thought the visor extension is a another piece that slides out from the original visor. doubling the length...

pull off the metal hinge and able to swirl around? yes, confirmed on US version of GLK.

another piece sliding off from inside the visor or another fold extension, no

jkf398, here is what the manual says for sun visors:
Glare from the side

Fold down the sun visor.
Pull the sun visor from retainer .
Swing the sun visor to the side.

Is your GLK a later build?

Yes you do all that, but if you look at the arm that the sun visor is on, it allows the visor to slide towards the end of the window so its not the visor that changes size or anything just its position.

As Emily Litella would say, "nevermind." My wife and I used my force this time and the visor did telescope out. Yes, I'm a bonehead but at least I don't have to rant about it anymore. Thanks jfk398.

Command Navigation should include:
- TMC (traffic message channel) function, which warns of traffic jams and suggests detours.
- A2DP Bluetooth functionality, With this technology, drivers can stream music wirelessly from the MP3 memory of a mobile phone equipped with Bluetooth technology straight to the vehicle's audio system - even while the phone remains in the his or her pocket.

The part which I do not understand is that these feature are already available on UMI(Universal Media Interface) option in GLK.

Just to be clear, in Canada the car does come with LED taillights. 100% sure of that and have seen them at the dealership. My car has not arrived, but dealership also confirmed LED's. I assume for some reason this means US cars do not have LED's yet.

Definitely not a deal breaker. Still love this vehicle, but it would have been nice, especially if you decide to spend $$$ on aftermarket wheels and have to parallel park often.
Gaser, have you tried programming the mirrors. When I was reading the manual you have to select the mirror, put car in reverse and then adjust it. When you put car back in D or P it will adjust to the original position. But will tilt once you go back in reverse.
Another way is to program one of the memory settings to keeping everything the same except for tilting both mirrors down.

That's what I thought too from the models on the lot in Feb. But then they told me it was LED taillights if I ordered the Bi-Xenon's. I asked them did it mean brake lights and signals and I was told yes.

"Bi-Xenon Headlamps Package

Bi-Xenon headlamps with washers, cornering lights and LED taillamps.
"

But I guess we will find out when I get it.

Maybe it's different for canada, but they say led taillight in US also. But only turn signals are LEDs. I would not believe what dealers say. When is your delivery?

As I said before on an earlier post, I don't know if the tail lamps are xenons but they don't look like they are, just the turn signals. It is possible that they both are xenons.

OK, I went over the dealership and checked. The it looks to me like the most recent deliveries they have the indicators in the taillights are the only thing that is LED. I tried to get a better look at the rest of it, but it was hard to see through the red plastic. But I don't think they are LED.

Xenons are only used at the front if you order them. They project a little farther.

My GLK is on the boat in the Atlantic. Supposed to arrive in Halifax April 9th. Then on a train to Toronto, so hoping to get it last week of April or early March. I ordered it Feb 23rd.

I ended up getting the Iridium Silver with the 20" rims, the Media Interface, the HK Stereo upgrade, the Premium Package, Aluminum Running Boards, and the Bi-Xenon headlights. I was not sure how the cornering lights worked on the Bi-Xenons but basically from what I could see today there is a third light on the inside of the housing that shines towards a reflective surface, and that bounces the light to the side of the car.

Anyway, attached are two pics of the Bi-Xenon headlights. I had not seen pics of these before. And also our LED Taillights, even though it only seems the indicators are LED.

Thanks

Rorie

I always turn the reverse tilt mirror feature OFF in all my cars (if they have it). Fairly useless for me. Instead i buy those round convex mirrors and stick them on my outside mirrors. I usually use 3" convex mirrors. With them, i can change lanes quickly without turning my head around. In addition, i can see the curb easily when i do parallel parking. Best part? It is dirt cheap...about $2 each. I have been using these mirrors on all my cars & SUVs.

I have some rants to go with my new GLK! Don't get me wrong, it's a real sleek rides and a dream to drive. However there are 2 things that are bothering me. 1- I already have about 3/4 paint chips on the truck already. There minor, but come on I didn't even drive hardly anywhere in the last 4 days since I picked it up. Paint feels cheaper to the touch then my friends S550. And he's had his car over a year and has no chips at all. Hmmm, would benz use different paint for different models? 2- The piano lacquer wood by the shifter is a glutton for scratches. Same material as an iphone 3G. Benz should have used something a lil tougher in that spot. My Cayenne had dark wood by the shifter, and I got not 1 scratch on it in about 3 years. We'll just have to see how these things hold up with some more wear and tear.

^I would certanly think GLK has different pait than S class and goes through different paint process. You making my decision to get clear bra that much easier. Where are the chips btw?

How come you went from Cayenne to GLK? How do they compare?

For the Chips, got one on the very tip of the hood, another on the rear passenger door, and one on the rear corner panel! A full body bra would make sense...lol

As for the switch from the Cayenne S to the GLK. My Cayenne smart buy was up and I had to get into something new asap. Wanted to down size a little bit, and after looking at the 2009 Cayenne V6, I was not 100% sold after test driving it. And more so, I learned that Porsche is changing the Body Style on the 2010 Cayenne next year. To tell you the truth, I really just liked the look of the GLK when I first layed eyes on it, and said why not!

Wow that sux. Do you think chips on the sides are from other doors?

EDIT: Didn't you get white car also? I read somewhere that metallic application is more durable (and also more expensive). Maybe it has something to do with that.

I would also add that to open a locked rear door, you need to pull the pin first. I feel like I just traveled back in time......
