Whats the deal?
I ordered my GLK, fully loaded at the beginning of May. Then my dealer emails me and says that they have a problem with my configuration. They say that if i still want the HK sound system I would have to wait until Sept to pick up the car. If I was going to change back to the regular sound system, I wouldnt have to wait. But since I am a audio FREAK, I decided to wait.
My question is WHY? Is there a shortage of speakers now or something?

MB made a wise positioning move to reduce production by 25% plus for 2009. We are seeing many odd situations as a result.
No matter what MB says, we see all sorts of delays and strange differences between USA/Canada units because of production, component cut backs and/shortages.
The GLK is either the biggest new car failure or a failure of delivery to market. I live in SoCal and six moths after intro of car, you may see one car per week, at most????
Launch a car "near" bottom of a 70 year low and what do you, the consumer, expect. Good news is that it appears to be a good machine and quality build.

To be honest GLK has very small market. Look at RDX or EX35. They have been around for 3 years, they are cheaper, and EX35 is sportier while some could argue RDX is more efficient. And I have not seen that many of them. People who want SUV do care about the rear seats and trunk space so GLK is not for them. As a result there are a lot more FX and MDX around. Only X3 succeeded well but it's been around for 6 years, so there are 6 years worth of them driving around.
All these delays were also expected. As I mentioned on several occasions that MB as well as other German manufactureres will be reducing production not to repeat the same mistake where ML's and C class were being given out at huge discounts to clear out inventory. It does suck to wait for the car for so long, I guess as some stated it's worth it to be more felxible with options and have your car much sooner by taking it off the lot.
+1 on the quality, even tho there are a few small complaints others have, not me.
