LED dayrunning lights
Hi there in USA,
Do they sell aftermarket LED dayrunning lights for the GLK in the USA. I ask this question because in Europe it does not exist (only Audi and some BMW's have them). I am coming to Florida from December till February, so it would be easy for me to buy them in that period. |
What do you mean by LED DRL? DRLs are xenons on GLK in US.
Also led bubls are available on ebay and other sites to replace the parking lights. Just seach for W5W LED bulb. |
On a US site of the GLK I saw nearby the fog lights a long horizontal strip with LED lights. That is what I mean.
|
I see, like on the new E-class. I don't think anybody here has found one yet. There was interest for it with no luck. I would like one myself.
|
were you guys looking for this?

maybe this may help? http://www.carlsson.de/carlsson/en/n...light_W164.php :zoom: p.s. there is a video of how its done on another class... no news for the GLK though.... |
I noticed Audi-like DRL's on an Acura NSX yesterday. Clearly they're not original equipment so the aftermarket lights must be starting to become available now. I don't know where though.
They looked pretty good. |
Good find, will keep an eye out... Looks like an interesting mod, but have to see it on a GLK prior to ordering...

that's quite an interior? the LEDs on the roof are a little weird though?
|
yea interior is beautiful
I wish somebody (other than Brabus, Lorinser or Carlsson) would just offer that fog/led combo to go on stock bumper for a resonable price. I have seen LED DRLs (A6 style) being but on GTI's and other cars, but as you can see it depends on how bumper is made. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...t/DSC00875.jpg |
Wow that Brabus does some fine work. The LED's are a tricky new tech, too much like on the Audi's can ruin a good look. The roof mounted blue LEDs on this Brabus does look more pimp than funtional

That's some beautiful leather work. I spent a little time in the Brabus area at the Frankfurt Auto Show yesterday and was duly impressed by the company's craftsmanship. Truly top notch.
BTW, how would you like their GLK engine swap-out...456 HP...0 to 60 mph 4.7 sec, 170 mph top speed. Didn't even ask the price but I'm sure it's serious money. But maybe there's a GLK AMG in the future? Doubt it though with the heightened emphasis on significant CAFE increases on vehicles sold in the USA through 2016. |
Visited yesterday the International Motor Show in Frankfurt and checked two different versions of the GLK. As from december 2009 there will be a modell with LED dayrunning lights, but only with the version ILS. Personally I did not liked it very much because they changed the round anti-fog lights at the bottom of the frontbumper for a long built-up LED strip.

I did not make any pics, but on the official German site: Mercedes Benz.de you can see the new front part that will be built as from dec 2009.
