Anybody had a problem with air distribution?

Very difficult for me to explain as I am convinced the issue keeps moving and changing, but here goes.....

Within a just few seconds of starting the car in the morning, the air starts coming out of the side vents at full force. Very noisy. Very cold.
However no air from the dash center vents.
And sometimes no air from any vent...tho I can here the fan running at about 100MPH.....
And, since the garage and car are at about 55F, and the temp on both dials is set to 76........I would expect no air, and no fan, until the engine warmed up.

When the engine does warm up........the air slows down, comes from all vents and is warm.........and all seems to be well.......

Does any of this make sense?

Has anybody had any problems with this system?

I think all this has to do with car being cold.

I don't turn heat on till engine is warm. And I don't use climate control, so I haven't had this issue yet.

I'm gonna set it to auto and to 75 degrees and see what happens when I start the car.

That's the way I run it. Auto and 75.

So I tried today. It was 35 outside, I put inside temp to 80 and on auto. At first no Air was coming out as it was cold. As car was warming up air started coming on sides and onto windshield but never out of center vents, which makes sense for even distribution of worm air.

Yes. that sounds normal. If you reread my post, you will see that mine doesn't work that way. Air starts coming out almost as soon as the car is started. The engine is still cold.
Seems obvious that I have a problem. Guess that is better than a design issue.

I fail to understand your point about no air from the center vents for even distribution of warm air.

Yea I understand that it doesn't work right...just wanted to describe what happens in my GLK, so you can compare to how climate controls works in other GLKs that's all.

The point about center vents is that I would not want car blow air (hot or cold) hard from those center vents. When air goes through windshield vent it just disburses warm air through the car.

Can't really say. Although once my car warms up it seems to do whatever is necessary. I take it yours doesn't.....
As to your problem....remember the car has Climate Control, not "AC" as we used to call it back in the day. That means that the AC is on when the heat is on sometimes......to keep the humidity low so that the windows don't fog up........

Are you sure about that? I know that AC light can be on, but that doesn't mean AC is on. And speaking of humidity, I think GLK fogs up worse than my previous two cars, not sure why.

Yes I am sure. It has nothing to do with the light. The Compressor clutch cycles off and on and the light stays on. Even in the summer that is true.
All Climate Controls are not created equal. American Systems traditionally work better than foreign systems. Don't know why, but It has always been so.

I think you are right. Today my windows were fogging up again. Instead of using "unfog" button, I set the climate control to lower temperature as it was warm in the car...and it worked...windows unfogged without blasting hot air.
