Gah stupid GLK, 2011 5 series here I come.

Just kidding...maybe not.

This is like the 3rd time I had to take the car to the service since I got it.

This time when I went to wash my car today at my gf's house, I noticed the driver side fog light cover accessory I got came halfway off, like they didn't stick it on properly...so I took it back to service.. When I went to open the trunk with my key to get some of my things, it made some weird noise like the gears grinding and didn't open.

So I took it to service and they were like sorry to waste your time, we gotta order some thinner double sided tape on Monday to re-install your fog light cover. And we will make an appointment to look at your hatch.

Then the service guy was like, how do you feel about leaving your car here for the weekend? I said it was fine because my OCD would **** me off driving around with 1 fog light cover. So I was like, are you going to give me a Corolla again? Because last time you did it was a piece of ****. He says yes, but I said no thanks and he goes to the back to look and gives me a 2008/09 E320 Bluetech Avantgarde edition.

So...yea... I dunno...I know this is a new vehicle, lots of minor bugs to work out. It's just mildly frustrating to waste some time of my weekend. But the service guy is really helpful, overall I don't mind. But I really miss having a sedan now, I will probably go back to one in the near future.

Before pic and 1.5 hours later I go back with an E-class. My brother was cleaning his SLK and he gave me the WTF look when he saw me pull up haha

Yeah you hit it, new model, lots of bugs to work out. I tend to keep tabs on nearly every model thread here, and the GLK is by far the most reliable Benz I've seen. Plus you seem to be having what I would consider minor problems, annoying, but minor. The true test of the GLK will come when people start hitting the 50k mile mark. No major failures, but I've owned five MB's and all of them started to develop little annoyances that required me to take them in for servicing around the 40k mark repeatedly.

Oh and a new 5'er? Really? I think it looks too much like the model its replacing.

I actually like the look of the new 5 series more than the new E-class.
Although I haven't had a chance to drive either of them yet, I am sure I will have a better feel once I do.

Based on what I've seen IRL I prefer the e-class interior as BMW dashes are a little spartan and their steering wheels are chubbier. I prefer the exterior of the 5 series though as it doesn't look as boxy or awkward (plus I currently dislike the E sedan tail lights). I know everyone says it looks like the current 3 series but IMHO the lines flow better than the E.

I think new 5 looks like smaller new 7. Bimmers are nice, but they do have their fair share of problems as well. I think next car here is a Cayman in addition to GLK.

Like I have posted before, all these *add-on* items are like cheap jewelry made to take your money..., made by third party vendors for MB and sold through dealers to make more bucks.

The only accessory I've ever bought were the fog light covers, and it's a little annoying to have it come off after a few months, but for the most part agreed MBRed.

I don't know what car to get next, I'm just fancying a sedan again. I'm a guy we always want new shiny toys.
My folks are nearing retirement in a couple years so I'm probably going to get an S-Class for my old man. 2008 S550 here with about 30km on it costs about $58k here which is a stellar value imo.

Just an update MB Richmond Service team has been extremely kind to me. They gave me a brand new foglight cover instead of refitting the old one because they didn't want to take any chances, and also replaced the tailgate motor. No hassles, feels good mannnnn

Free car detailing is the cherry on top! Saves me a couple hours haha
