Question about the paint on the GLK
Hi
I have read the paint/clearcoat used on the GLK it heals itself of at least minor scratches.
On my previous car, I used Ziebart product "Diamond Gloss" (http://www.ziebarttoronto.com/diamongloss.htm) to protect the paint, and 4 years later, the car looks like it just came out of the show room.
Considering the paint used on our GLKs, would this harm the paint?
Does anyone know?

I do not believe that the GLK has the self healing paint.
To my knowledge Nissan is the inventor and only auto production company using it.

^^That's what I also have heard. Infiniti has this selfhealing paint on all of their cars.
MB's clear coat is nice, dirt comes off during wash like nothing.
Doubt any of the regular auto products that don't damage regular paint would be harmful for MB's paint.

We were looking at an FX35 and it had the self healing paint, and the salesman told me it wasn't that good. The only scratches it 'heals' are so small that you wouldn't notice anyway. People think that it will get rid of rock chips, he said it wasn't even worth considering as an option!

It's not "self-healing". It's a new nano-particle clearcoat... very hard and durable... very glossy too.... but once your GLK or any other Benz gets hit, don't expect your dealer or any other body repair shop to use it.... way too expen$ive.

My dealership offered me an additional 'paint protection' product for $500. So then is it needed?
The sales person mentioned it's great as it's a 'permanent wax' that will help repel bird poop, tree sap, etc.
