iPhone contacts won't load
Anyone else have this experience?
I guess I could go the PCMCIA route.
Thanks!
You can do the PCMCIA thing or if you have another Bluetooth phone lying around, you could sync your contacts to that phone and then use that phone to sync your contacts to the car.
I would think the choice would come up greyed out, not just not appear.
I am on my 3rd iPhone so I don't have another Bluetooth phone; I guess it's PCMCIA for me!

That is, if you also buy an SD card. IIRC the PCMCIA adapter cost $20 - 30, and an 8 GB SD card set me back another $15 - 20.
For the extra $15 it is nice to just be able to leave it in there and not have to plug and unplug my phone.
I pull the card every couple of months and sync music since I don't usually find anything new music-wise that I HAVE to have on it immediately.
I also bought a microSD card adapter to be able to play music on the microSD card that is in my BB. (So I have music in the microSD card inside the microSD adapter inside the PCMCIA adapter inside the radio - works fine.)
I know this may not be a perfect solution since one of the points of buying into the Apple thing is it is supposed to be convenient with one stop shopping, one device, one software package on the PC/Mac, etc. You would expect that if M-B was going to engineer their cars to work with the iPod, iPhone, etc., that they would design to make all the important features work and test them. Even if the iPhone can't export vcards and it is therefore more of an Apple issue, there should be some sort of work around. e.g.- mount the filesystem, change directory to wherever the contacts are stored, and read the file(s). Sounds like they may have missed one here.

There is a menu option in the address book set-up that says Import Contacts but it is greyed out and I cannot access it.
What's the magic word?!
My contacts are currently in the Windows Mobile Contacts default format.
I'll give this another shot this evening; wish me luck!
I know the contacts are on the memory card because I was able to pull them up on another computer.
Am I missing something or is it time to head down to my friendly dealer?

I went to my local Apple store today and one of the guys suggested I re-format my memory card to FAT-32. This makes sense because I think I've used this card for one of my digital cameras so it would have formatted it for photography, not data.
We shall see...

Maybe they lead to the second link and I just wasn't patient enough to get there...

I still don't see anything that tells how to load contacts.
My sister just purchased a 550 GL so, I wanted to see if the iPhone 3G could connect and upload the contacts...the iPhone 3G and MB head unit linked and uploaded contacts easily. The bluetooth directory in the iPhone showed the title "handsfree" when I clicked on "handsfree" within the iPhone it provided a list of sub-features like..."share contacts". Click on share contacts and guess what...it shared my iPhone contact list...boom.
My thought is that MB needs to do a software flash within the GLK system.
it was so simple with the 2010 GL.
Give me a break.
It should also work on windows machines with bluetooth.
