Good bye GLK

I have loved my GLK for the past year, but all good things most come to an end. I am giving my GLK to my girlfriend to make room for my new 4 x4 the Ford Raptor .

Don't let the door hit you in the ***! And tell your girlfriend to stop by anytime ...

I kid, I kid... The Raptor is a helluva truck! I priced one out locally and couldn't get out the door for less than 50k TTT... They go for a premuim around here and rarely stay on the lot for longer than a week.

I hope your girfriend knows how lucky she is... Good luck to you and the new purchase!

I would consider buying raptor if I had use for it. What an awesome looking truck.

Check out insideline.com, they have Raptor in their long term fleet.

Well, I fully understand. With no disrespect to all here, (me included) let's face it, the GLK is a chick car.

Good luck with your new Raptor!

I'm sorry but what kind of mileage did you expect. Most of us get 20+ MPG. You should not have bought a MB if you were looking for something much better in the MPG category.

Well I admit that almost all of the "cute utes" can be considered "chick cars." However, compared with all the others (i.e., Audi Q5, BMW X3, VW Tiguan, Infiniti EX, etc.) I have to say that the GLK is by far the most masculine looking/ "non-chick car". Certainly not as masculine as the Raptor but the Raptor is a completely different class. As a result, I think that at least half of the people that I see driving GLK's in Chicago (probably more than half actually) are guys.

As far as the gas-guzzling, I have to agree. I have now had my GLK for about a month and am pretty unimpressed by the fuel economy. The past week or so here in Chicago has been pretty brutal: more than 2 feet of snow, very cold weather, etc. As a result, traffic has been very "stop and go." I realize that this combination of cold weather, bad traffic and long idling times results in bad mileage but I got less than 13 mpg on my last tank. Fuel economy is the only real complaint that I have about the car at this point.

"Chick car?" Screw that; I thinks it's the perfect size and I like the looks.

As for gas consumption, MB makes a heavy car with adaquate power and that rarely is a formula for great gas mileage. I get 20 mpg and I think that's great.

So let's see, BestorNicht, you want something more macho and with better gas mileage... how about a Prius?!

It's not a bad thing if you like the looks and the drive of a chic car! I love the looks as well, plus I enjoy driving it when my wife allows me that is. What makes a car a *chic* car is the disproportionate number of females to males that actually drive it on the road. In my travels throughout the country, I've observed a ratio of at least 10:1.

Oh, got it.

Funny, I haven't noticed the gender of who're driving other ones; I'm too busy looking to see if there are any mods I might want to copy!

I hear you about the wife thing; I bought "our" GLK for myself and I'm lucky if I get to drive it once a week! Fortunately, "her" car is the G37 so I'm not exactly suffering...

According to you, G-Wagen is a chik car. I see def. more female drivers. So is Ragnge Rover.

For GLK, my observation is an even split between female drivers and dudes in their 50's.

Sorry if my sarcasm didn't translate very well into words; I do like my GLK very much (especially compared to my old Toyota no matter how gas efficient it was).
However, I've just been having some second thoughts lately about my choice. The gas mileage itself as we all know is not the greatest (and this I guess is expected of a luxury car), but I guess the reason why it has got me thinking is because the relatively small size of the gas tank makes visits to the gas station seem way too frequent. This leads to my (perhaps mistaken?) line of thought; for the price I'm paying for the lease + gas, maybe I should have gone for a 2010 E sedan, or even the C63 (which I've fallen in love with recently) instead.

Sorry if I had accidentally offended anyone with my initial comment; it was definitely not my intent (in fact, I myself am sometimes bugged by some of the comments in this forum where it seems to be implied that the GLK is a "wife" car or some **** like that). Anyways, until my lease is up, the GLK will remain my car and I'll still be happily driving it till then.

I have to say that the fuel economy is actually pretty good. The 13-14 mpg I get in the Glk is MUCH better than the 8-9 mpg I used to get in the C32 driving around town.

And the past week's snow has been a true test for the 4matic. That's actually been quite fun.

Definitely a +1!!! Who the hell wants to drive a Soccer Mom GL class? My family loves it and for me (after putting aftermarket wheels, HID and leds - check out my ride) it doesn't look like a chick ride. You just have to make it your own. If u stay stock, it may look like a chick car. So, there is no need to run to Home Depot guys!

Traded a magnum srt8 on the glk. Men were attracted to the Magnum. In general, the women never really noticed it. Women do notice the glk

Well compared to a Magnum or Raptor, a GLK does look like a chick car. Then again, it's a whole different kind of vehicle so there is nothing to compare. I have a Challenger RT and Ford Mustang, women notice that one too. Does it mean it's a chick car or maybe they noticed me driving the car? Just my .02 here.

There are two Ford Raptor's in my area, that I've seen, and both are driven by women. There are also several Camaro SS's around that are
driven by women, guess that make them both "chick cars".

I hear ya. Two different things all together. Nice choice on the Challenger. I had a '70 RT ragtop back in the day.
