GLK 350 power lift gate?

Is the power lift gate really that useful? I heard it has some problems. Anyone have experience prefer or not prefer it?

Now that I am use to it, I wouldn't do without it.

Opening the back while hands are full, kid in one hand, stuff in the other. Or kids want something from the back, people not slamming the back shut with all their might, being able to open it as you run to the car in the rain to throw something in the back and jump in the driver's seat while you leave the gate to close on it's own...

I find it useful since it's there. Buy probably would not be a dealbreaker.

I don't have it on the GLK and don't find I really need it. The hatch is pretty easy to open close.

I do have it on my minivan where the hatch is larger and heavier. It's fairly useful there. But as these things go, the one on the minivan also has some issues. So if you're concerned about it having problems, they probably all will at some point. Just the nature of the beast.

I purposely didn't get it on the GLK because I didn't want to deal with possible problems down the line like on the van.

Didn't get it on my 2008 BMW X3. Drove my wife nuts so she now drives a 2010 GLK. Very worth it in my wife's opinion.

FWIW, the GLK has been in twice for adjustments to the power liftgate.

in canada its part of the premium package (which really is just stuff you would expect to be standard in this price range). The power tailgate is useful but on my car it'll not work maybe once in 15 times. Dealer adjusted several times so i just live with it

There are a number people on this forum who have had problems with the power tailgate myself included but even with the problems the convenience outweighs the issues by far. The tailgate is heavy just well balanced. Opening the tailgate is great but better is when I need to close it with a touch of the button on the tailgate.

mine has given me some headaches, actually quite a few headaches? but it's still nice to have. it works fine until someone forcefully closes it, like at the carwash then it acts up for the first couple times after that, then it's fine.
i've had my motor replaced in the first month of owning and 3 seperate adjustments. i just deal with it now if it acts up.

It was mainly limited to early production cars. The issue isn't that big of a deal any longer.

I didn't think I would like the power lift gate as much as I would. I am in and out of my trunk quite often with the nature of my work, so it's nice to have it opened by the time i get to my car (or by the time i step out of my car and to the back).

I suppose it's just one of those "luxury" features that wouldn't break the deal if not included, but it's nice to use once you have it. I assume keyless-go would be the same thing (a feature i do not have).

Yeah I didn't really care about having it when we bought ours but it really is nice. I think it's pretty lame that all the stuff on the premium package isn't standard though.
