GLK Service/ Repair Manual
I've done quite a bit of searching... can't seem to find anything for the GLK. Anyone know of service manuals available? Called my dealer today, expecting a huge quote... turns out they don't produce one... go figure!!! Someone on Fleabay is selling a 'generic' manual, but then again will only deal within the USA.

I wonder if STAR TekInfo will "work" for the Canadians as well?

I realize with coupons it's pretty reasonable, just wanting some 1st hand Mercedes review..... anyone? |
I've used them for 15 years for Range Rovers and MB's. They are not a full service manual with all the instructions on how to do specific jobs like Haynes or Chilton's. But after working on cars for over 50 years from Model A's, E-type V12 Jags to CLK's and now GLK's I have the tools and general knowledge to do most jobs. What I use them for is to find out where things are, what parts and assemblies look like, how much dealer items are listed for and how long it should take. (example antenna for keyless entry, part# 2078200075 $39.50) They also usually have the electrical wiring diagrams, MB's functional sequence, disassemble order and many of the service notices and for GLK all the diagnostic trouble codes (3 pages of them about 1200 and tranny codes). For this and occasional use $26.00 doesn't seem a lot. Of course you can print out pertinent data the first year and only sign up the if you need more the next years.

2010 GLK350 Service/Repair Manual
I am looking for a Service/repair manual for my GLK350 4Matic (2010). I already have the Owner's Manual. Where can I get it?

If you live in the USA, there is a guy on Ebay that's selling the CD. Unfortunately, he will not mail to Canada. I ordered a CD through him, delivered to a pal in Florida, and picked it up last winter. Unfortunately he sent me a CD for another model.... useless!! I emailed and called him at least 6 times, he finally admitted he'd sent the wrong one, said he'd send the proper one out.... but that was 7 months ago. Personally, a waste of $20. (He's out of California, San Diego possibly). I use Alldata, pretty good, took awhile playing around, but fine for me!

I don't have it, but by far the best source of repair information, is the Mercedes DAS/WIS/EPC.
On some of the forums, members have posted excerpts about specific jobs. It seems that there are vendors in China who sell complete systems that in some cases even include an older laptop computer (apparently needed to run the software). Don't know if they are up to date enough to include GLks. MBUSA have quite a number of workshop manuals on their site for older Benzes. But doesn't look like the GLK will get these. Too bad really, that as the cars become more and more complex, the days of DIY are dwindling. |
Went to Alldata to purchase GLK350 service manual, it's not listed.
What other model MB would be the most similar? |
https://mbworld.org/forums/data:imag...AAAElFTkSuQmCChttps://mbworld.org/forums/data:imag...AAAElFTkSuQmCCMaybe the newer model isn't listed yet, they have up to 2012 GLK listed. Not many 2013 vehicles are listed.
|
Sorry the pasted part doesn't show. The GLK is listed a s 2010 Mercedes Benz Truck GLK350 (204.987) V6-3.5L (272.971)
I don't think they have the diesel yet or 2013 and newer. Sorry about that. I guess they figure those vehicles are under warranty. |
I figure by the time our 2013/4 GLKs are out of warranty and we want to really work on them ourselves, the eBay vendors will have up to date WIS DVDs. (7 years before I need them!). But, just WIS may not be enough. You will need to read codes too. You can read OBD codes with a cheap meter, but for MB specific codes, you would need the equivalent of the MB DAS system. Probably available illegally from China by then!
Selling those WIS DVDs likely infringes on MB copywrite, but seeing MB don't produce or sell workshop manuals like they used to, owners wanting to do DIY repairs don't have many choices. The WIS DVDs are not your easy to read manual - There is quite a learning curve. MBUSA does offer on-line access by the day, but it is quite costly and because of the learning curve, it's hard to get much out of it in a day. MBCanada has a similar system, but it is priced ridiculously high - probably aimed at independent shops. |

I have used www.emanualsonline.com e-manuals with my previous cars, AudiA4 and VW Tiguan. The manuals worked very well. I am presently downloading (cost approx 14 €) the e-manual for my new MB GLK. The download is of large size (14Gbyte) so it takes some hrs to download.

Hi, I downloaded the MB GLK on line workshop manual from www.emanualonline.com. It is now working well after some assistance from their help desk. Please be aware of that this is not a book, it is a data base (14GB download size) with search funktionality. |

Screensshot from emanualonline/ Mercedes Benz GLK Work Shop Manual It consists of WIS, ASRA, SSL and MSS. It has some shop procedures at least. I copy a screen shot FYI. I do not know about pirated, but I find it unlikely. They sell these products updated and up to date year after year. It would not be possible without the full support of Mercedes Benz and the other car manufacturers. Have look at the screen shot here. |
