2010 GLK 350
Newbie here w questions...

Hi everyone!

I'm super excited to be joining this board and hopefully be able to learn more about my new (but older year) GLK!

I just got a 2010 GLK 350 that comes with only the appearance pkg. (It was a deal I couldn't turn down, with super LOW miles..35k to be exact.. Otherwise I would've held out for one loaded with everything I wanted)

I really would like to have a 7in touchscreen w/Nav/DVD player etc. and install a rear view camera, but can this be done without messing up the factory controls?

I have searched my brains out on google and on this forum and still could not get a good answer in regards to what I'm trying to do. I see a lot of threads about installs and how they did it, but most of the GLK's already had the Nav function. PLUS.. I am NOT car savvy so I will not be doing the install. I will be taking it to a local auto shop that has 4.5 stars on Yelp (unless anyone in the Bay Area, CA has a recommended place)

So onto my questions...

First off, is this even possible to get, since I don't have existing Nav? My "COMMAND" controls are very basic and there are no other options in the menu besides Radio/CD/Bluetooth.

Does anyone have recommendations on a brand of 7in touchscreen monitors that fit correctly in the 2010 GLKs? I've seen a lot on ebay and random google searches, but most of them come from China. Are those legit and work well? And is there anything specific too look for or stay away from?

Second, as long as I get a 7in display, w Nav capability I should be able to hook up the rear cam no problem... Correct?

And lastly, to anyone who did mods w aftermarket products.. Have you had any problems with it interfering with the factory settings?

I'm so sorry for all my questions, but I really do hope someone can shed some light on all this for me. Thanks in advance!

LOADED 08' C350 & 14' GLK-350 Diamond White (P1, MM, AMG Pkg, Ln Trkng, Htd Sts, Keylss Go)
Sounds like a challenge - I haven't seen anything aftermarket fit into and w204 or x204 dash slot that still looks clean aesthetically and integrates like factory

I wanted to upgrade the COMMAND on my 2008 to something more modern but haven't found any viable options that still integrate and look clean

I found these on eBay... But since I'm not tech savvy, I'm not sure if maybe I'm missing something, or not comparing part numbers correctly:

I also found this one from a random google search:

Very very slow
Welcome.

Personally, I would stay away from those.

However you can check out this mod/upgrade from mbussado.

https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...se-camera.html

I know you'll pay a little more than the items you mentioned but at least with mbussado's conversion, you'll have the MB's command unit and functionality.

Which, IMHO, is better.

Good luck.
