Key Replacement

Has anyone here had to replace keyless keys yet?

"Keyless Go" does not change the cost of a replacement remote - or change the replacement cost of the metal key.. in your area, different MB dealers part's dept's could have different prieces - and different dealers may have slightly different idenidty/ownership/security protocols for ordering a replacement remote/key.

Note - MB's with Keyless Go feature will use up remote batteries quite a bit faster than non-Keyless Go models - and the "original" key remote battery is Panasonic, but made by Panasonic in Indonesia - and I am not a great fan of that battery... try Maxell made in Jaoan same battery size/#

Keep the beat !

Key Replacement

Yup! My keyless battery just lasted one year to the date of purchase. The second key maybe 1 month longer.

The dealer told me to replace the key fob is about $200. He also told me to keep the key as far away from cell phones to maximize the battery life. I have heard the same when I owned Lexus and Audis. All the key batteries have seemed to last several years for me since I don't really use the physical buttons on the keys. However since my wife keeps her keys in her purse next to her phone, I've noticed that her batters drain much faster. But never within a year. Usually 18-24 months.

Just bought a new one for my 2013 GLK with keyless go. $280 bucks. The dealer wanted to charge an extra $100 in labor "program" and check the key. Don't fall for it. They come programmed out of Dallas.

My first battery only lasted about a year. I was surprised. My Ford Explorer keyless fob is going on 5 years.

Both our keys having trouble at times locking the wagon? It's brand new but who knows what good the batteries are so would like known fresh batteries now. Will note when take it into dealer for followup service. Too bad not like some other cars that charge the batteries when the key is inserted. That would be sweet.
