Any tips on purchasing a Used GLK

I am looking to purchase a used GLK 2011-2013 4matic with bi-xenon lights.
Any tips would be appreciated.
How do I find out from the seller the correct features on the vehicle as the used ads I have seen do not have deep information or are entirely correct (such as if the seats are leather).

Is this the best way to do the decode the features of the vehicle
http://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-...GG5HB1DG074189

Any buying tips with the new types of selling models like Beepi, Instamotor, or Carlypso?

Thank you,

It is best to buy a 2013 as it has the new V6 engine and it livelier than the 2011 or 2012 engine. Also 2013 is the facelift version. Make sure there is a lighting package and premium package on the car then command option. You can also find a car that has the 360 camera or make sure the rear view camera is with the Command. All glk comes with the artico (vinyl) leather and real leather is an option.

Another question, reviewing the brochure
https://static.beepi.com/Brochures/23968.pdf

How do I identify if a used vehicle has
Driver Assistance Package
Lane Tracking Package

Thanks

look at page 16. The Driver Assistance package is an option. If the car your looking at doesn't have the Multimedia package then it won't have the DAP. If it does the DAP is optional. A step further, if it has the special order Distronic systems, active assist lane tracking and adaptive cruise control is included.

As shotgun banjo said stay with a 13 or later for the upgraded interiors. Use the tool list provided for the build information

Thank you,
Wow ..... I've never heard of these websites. So basically you are buying a car unseen at auction and trusting the online company. Sounds concerning but reassuring at the same time. Good luck.

Online VIN decoders can work but I always call my local MB dealer and have them run the VIN and email it to me so I know I'm getting accurate info. At least my MB dealer doesn't seem to mind and they all know who it is when I call.

If I were you I would look compare a pre-facelift (10-12) with a post-facelift (13-15) in person to see which you prefer. I had a pre-facelift and everybody always asked me why mine wasn't ugly like the other GLKs they saw (may have had to do with color). The newer ones will have a nicer interior and more powerful/fuel efficient engine if that matters to you, but will also cost more. It's all a matter of preference. Can't go wrong with an MB!

It's funny that listy has not responded to his thread.

4MaticSeason - when are you getting your new MB. Based on your response sounds like you go thru quite a few of them?

MKenM - I don't go through many but I'm selective when I buy. I'm looking for an AMG right now so being even more so. Plus when I see a car online I can only tell some options by the picks and every car I've checked has been listed as having options it doesn't have. Car dealers will say anything to sell a car.

Just got over busy and stopped search -- and it has been difficult to find what I like. But I am now researching again. I learned a few things:

a. Lighting Package (bi-xenon lights) is very rare, but thanks to information on the form, I think I can pick them out while looking at online ads
b. Distronic systems, active assist lane tracking and adaptive cruise control very rare and I cannot find out from the online ads.
c. Leather very rare, I think if you look for the piping on the seats or the leather on the doors in the photos you can tell it is probably leather.
d. Build sheet is hard to find if the seller is not Mercedes Benz
e. The online decoders, I don't seem to trust unless the car was a custom ordered car
f. 2015 cars seem to be better value than 2013 cars at the moment
g. Not that many cars with Navigation or backup camera

HELP: Does Mercedes Benz have an option sticker which I can decode?

These online car sellers -- some you do get to see the cars in person and some you don't. So Carlypso -- they don't show their inventory online anymore they just search for you. Beepi they bring the car to you for a test drive.

My last car a 911, the seller had terrible online pictures and the seller did not know the actual car options, and the car was about 300 miles away. Fortunately for me, my friend lived near by the car took a photo of the option sticker which I decoded easily. Then had a Pre-purchase inspection done, and then flew down and picked up the car. The car had all the options I was willing to pay a premium for, but since the seller did not realize this, the price was lower than a car in similar condition without the features I wanted in my area.

If I remember correctly if you have the VIN of a car Mercedes can give you the option list installed. It maybe only available to the current owner but it would be a good source to check out.

I know when I replaced a rear light unit they needed the VIN to order the correct part.

Must have if you're interested in it are:

1. Multimedia
2. Premium 1 and 2 package
3. Lighting package
4. Distronic package

Distronic package was hard to find and was ordered less until 2015 where I saw almost all 15's had it.

Question on Lighting quality. Are the standard lights of a 2010 ML 350 better, equal or less than a 2013 GLK?

This was the vehicle I saw (link). It was just sold and the information I had did suggest that the default lighting was on this vehicle.

I looked at a 2010 ML 350 - to mostly check on whether I need the extra cargo space. I also noticed that ML's are generally better equipped. I prefer the driving size of the GLK for 85% of my needs.

Thanks

Question. Should I narrow my GLK 2013 search to vehicles with Hitch factory installed? Besides the actual physical hitch hardware, was anything else included in the hitch package.
How expensive/difficult is it to install a 2 inch receiver for my bike carrier. The heat shield or removal of bumper is that difficult or necessary?

Main reason for SUV versus a car (personal preference) is to travel with 4 mountain bikes for journeys of up to 4 hours. Most journeys are about 1 hour and doing this 2 times per month.

Probability of towing almost 1%, current vehicle was purchased with a towing package, the only thing I did was to carry 4 bikes and never towed. Current rack is this one. I have thought about towing a trailer a few times, but then just rented a truck from U-Haul instead each time.
