250 bluetec

Seeking a 250 in the states. Read something here a while back about 2014 having issues in comparison to the 2013. Someone later shared that all those issues were regarding software updates. Which if done by the dealership, wipes away any concerns.

Can some others here shed some light please. If I can include some 14's in my search it would help as the factory warranty would be present until 2018.

Thanks in advance,

Yes some people (myself included) received the 10 starts remaining message. I drove mine in that day and 1 hour later it was fixed and haven't seen it again that was about 32,000 km's ago...

My '14 250 diesel had a CEL at 18k and was in and out of the shop until they decided it needed a new $2500 DPF. They couldn't tell me why the DPF failed at only 18k miles so I traded it for a 350 gasser.

This experience along with the current ongoing VW emissions cheating scandal got me to look closer at the emission control equipment used on these vehicles. I concluded that while it is cool technology and fantastic when it works, it is still overly complicated and expensive to repair. I also think it is not reliable or bullet proof enough for the average consumer.

A lot of people on this forum have had little or no trouble with the diesel. Others have had repeated trips to the dealer for service. I gave it a fair try and do not see it as a long term viable option. I'll stick to the normally aspirated gasser with simpler emissions.

Ended up purchasing a 14' with documented service 21k on the clock and updated software reprogramed on the vehicle/engine/transmission. The warranty lasts until 01/17/18. Giving me 21 mos of worry free ownership. I figure in 21 months I can determine if she is worth keeping. I really like the looks, feel and performance numbers on this thing enough to give it a go.

I don't think you will be giving it back, it's an ideal size vehicle that with the diesel excels in fuel economy. I just wish we had more choices for diesels here in North America. While I have both diesel and gas vehicles it's the diesel we go to for all our needs, I really should just buy another diesel and sell the gasser.....

I just turned my 2014 GLK250 for an E350 4Matic. Had the car almost 2 years. 18K of mostly non freeway use. The car never had any issues, and at the time I traded it the avg MPG was just under 32 MPG. I traded for the E class because I needed more room to carry 5 people. The GLK was not an enjoyable experience for 5 adults on anything but a short trip. I am hoping that the E350 will be as bullet proof the GLK 250 was. Enjoy your new ride!

Thank you for the validation! Yes, I am 5'7. Anymore height and it would be slightly cramped. I really really really want them to bring the C250 Bluetec Wagon to the US. What an incredibly beautiful sports wagon.
