GLK350 Illuminated Star
Decided to get an illuminated star for my GLK. Just something to make it unique (haven't seen anyone else with one in my area).
Purchased it from eBay for about 50$. Took 2 weeks to arrive and then a few hours to figure out how to install it and where to connect the cables.
It turns on whenever I unlock the car and stays on while the car is on/running. Once I lock the car it takes about 10 seconds before it shuts off.
Anyways, here are some photos of the end result (its actually a white light, even though it looks kinda blue in the pic):

I know the aftermarket knockoffs lovingly made in China are sold at give away prices but physically how do they compare?? Has any one actually taken a close look at the genuine (overpriced ) Star and the knockoff at the same time??

As for quality, I'll update this post if the LED ever fails or something breaks on it.

Yes it came with a page of instructions.
However, it was written by a Chinese fellow and the translation was pretty bad.
It wasn't at all that helpful. So I ended up just doing it my own way.
Edit: Here's the instructions:

I don't know who Liftoff bought from but I just bought one from this seller for $47.99

I used this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Illuminated-...4AAOSwdrRXGrHs
Right now it says US $65.88, but you can make an offer.
I got mine for US $47.58
And if anyone needs photos of how I installed mine, I can share them with you.
I used a fuse tap to connect it, but you could also splice directly into your daytime running lights.

My star came in today. I was wondering how you (Liftoff) removed your original star. The instructions say pull out from bottom outward? Does that mean I pull from the bottom or top of the star and tilt out away from the vehicle?

There are two tabs holding it in place on the bottom (See photo).
You can remove it by reaching behind the star and trying to get them from that side.
But I found it easier to use a small flat head screwdriver and insert it where you can see the tab from the outside. Then just push the tab free.
Remove the chrome star first. It pops off pretty easily, and then you just got to get the black frame out.
Once the tabs are free, pull the bottom outwards and upwards, and it'll come off.

Thanks for your help. I was able to get the chrome star out without any incident. The problem I ran into was no matter how carefully I tried I could not manage to coax the black star frame out without cracking the heck out of the clip mounting frame behind the star. After I got the black star frame out I just pulled the clip mounting frame out of the hole and was able to use some zip ties and black silicone sealant/adhesive to mount the new illuminated star in. I wired it as always on whenever the car is on. I really like the way it looks!!

Do you have it with halogen lights? I like the idea of the illuminated star, but I don't have Xenon lights, and wasn't sure how the overall feel of the mixed lights would be. Much the same as I'm having a hard time dealing with the LED driving lights and the halogen headlights.

Mine is holding up well so far too. I do have the halogen headlights, LED driving lights and the LED illuminated star. You can see it in the picture I posted above. I can see where it might bug some people but it really doesn't bother me. I may upgrade to Xenons at some point if I can get a set that won't set off any dash warning lights.

I had considered the LED's, but wasn't sure how well those work for headlights? I don't want to get into issues with blinding other drivers. I had tried to look into HID replacements, but I manage to end up getting confused with what I am looking at. HID/LED/Xenon, it all eventually blurs and I gave up figuring out which one is plug and play.
