2013 glk 250 air filter DIY

So someone posted one that just sounded ridiculous. I believe his words were "one of the hardest things ive ever done". lol. Thought i post a simple diy

Diff. Easy

Things needed

Flat head screw driver

Torx (t25 or t20) screw driver. If using a ratchet, must need ext. bar or else youll just be annoyed with life

Air Filter

Step 1: Pop up hood. and remove engine cover by using a flat head screw driver. Then pull towards you

Step 2: Locate the air filter cover on the passeger side underneath a silver box(look at picture). Using the torx screw driver, remove all the screws of the black housing. Do not touch anything else

Step 3: Slightly lift up enough to remove the filter. Pull the filter out and up. Its held in by a plastic stud in the center so you can not just pull straight out.

Step 4: Clean the housing and replace filter. (Come in at an angle)

Step 5: Replace screws and housing . Don deal

Hi, all

I've lost 2 of screws during engine filter replacement. The filter cover sits quite solid even without them, but still I don't like it.
Unfortunately local dealers in Moscow told me that they come only together with the filter body, which of course I don't want buying. :-)
Any ideas where to find these screws?
Thanks very much for your help.

Greetings!

You need a Torx 25, Black, course thread, self tapping style air box screw. Cost is usually less than $1 USD / 60 RUB / €1 EUR per screw.

Parent post is missing one of the screws at the rear of the housing - on a US-spec 2015 car there are six, not five as indicated in the photo. Still, not a difficult job.

I have one screw that is a pain to get out at the rear of the housing (closest to windshield) , with a little patience it is not a problem , although you need to unclip the harness holders first.

I'm trying WHT002087 from VW parts catalog. Will report back if it fits.

I ended up rescuing my dropped screw with a flexible magnet tool. I went under the car and wiggled it around on top of the heat shield until it was picked up. Good luck!
