Confused which route to go towing bar etc
My GLK350 is rated at 3500 max. I see all types of wiring, bars, wireless controllers etc for this vehicle. I contacted UHaul and they told me with everything installed. It would be 569.00 plus tax. Thoughts on using them and there products. I heard Curt products are pretty good. But I am also confused as to what else I need to purcahse and have installed to make this legal and solid. I.E Brake controller, lights etc. I dont want them tering into my dash and wires so as painless as possible is what im looking at. Yea right!

thank you for this link. I hope I can get Uhaul to install what is needed. Still confused on whats really needed for brakes, and hitch install. I live in lake tahoe so knowledge is kind of lack in these parts. Thats why I question whats needed to a science.

It doesn't have an electric trailer brake support option so it's mainly lights. The trailer needs to use surge brakes if you need any. Since you're limited to 3500 pound trailers surge brakes would be the norm.
Don't let anyone mess with splicing wires. There is a computer buried back there that manages the lights, tailgate, and other things. It would register the new resistance as an error and throw codes if not deciding to self-emolate itself over your project.

The cpu in the back is the Rear SAM or Signal Aquisition Module whic can be found for around $450 dollars plus installation and programming. You probably want to be careful to make sure any wiring you do is Mercedes spec.
