My bespoke stainless brake lines are in.

https://i.ibb.co/nQ4vNgJ/brake-fluids.jpg
These are the fluids I will be utilizing. I am intrigued to see how well the Brembo seal conditioning fluid will work for the caliper assembly. It is made in the United Kingdom and the brake lubricant is made in Germany. The brake fluid is very simple Brembo DOT4 from when I bought bulk last year. I think most people over complicate with the brake fluid selection.

Massive front pads. I regret buying these very expensive pads due to the fact they are very dusty right out the packaging! No doubt they will bite hard.
https://i.ibb.co/MGcd5Hp/textar.jpg
When you install any of the pads they are directional with the stainless shims. As a matter of fact, majority of the performance brake parts have orientation to them. From rotors, pads, calipers, spring clips, to brake hoses, the orientation is important (usually indicated by arrow)!

These replacement bleeder nipples were not too expensive from the Mercedes-Benz dealer. They arrive as a package of two.

Here's the original bracket with new updated flange bolts. The increased surface area and hex head is a great improvement over the original X204 bolts.

More hardware for the caliper brackets.

This is a full tear down for powder coating, I decided on a light gloss black (Brembo doesn't recommend powder coating at all, but I assessed the risks/difficulties involved and decided I wanted the invulnerability to brake fluid).

Also you might be asking why didn't I buy matching calipers? Well that is because the larger rear caliper only comes in dark grey, red, bronze orange. Light grey is no longer offered for the bigger calipers, although they are utilized in junior AMGs like the GLC43 or E43. The front I wanted the twin bleeders instead of the later simplified single bleeder; in addition I liked the bracket on the older C219 caliper despite having to use a big washer.

I might be doing a vented piston setup, but it is quite costly at $500 USD for the fronts. The bridgepipe might also get replaced by an unpainted Brembo GT-s or GT-R caliper bridgepipe.

I am hoping to get everything installed by the end of March. Nearly all the parts are here; just gotta schedule time to do it and customize some parts.

What particular model did you get those amg brakes? Are they bolt on to GLK's?

I really like the dedication you have with your GLK.

JohnnyC 04-04-2019 03:44 AM

Only the rears are direct fit, but the biggest challenge was the brake lines. None of the stock brake lines will be compatible.

The front are from CLS63 W219 chassis. And I found out you cannot utilize stock wheels with the front 360mm rotors; the 390 will give more clearance with the 6 pistons.

I'm about 95% done with this project. The brakes have been on the car, last two things are new dust shields and stainless brake lines for the rear.

The front now has custom made 60 centimeter length lines by Goodridge. Before I was using the X166 166-420-03-48 and it was a perfect fit. When you switch to the stainless lines you have to route them differently than OE, but there was no issue with it binding on the suspension or wheels.

The rears are still rubber from 212-428-00-35. I found through my research this was the perfect length. None of the C63 lines I ordered will fit a GLK, so therefore I installed them on my W205 C300.

Lastly, I just ordered new Carbon Ceramic caliper dust shields from the dealer.

Put a few hundred kilometers on my new brakes and they stop really good. Traveled over a gigantic road trench in Hollywood and thought my wheel was gonna pop off; but luckily everything looks safe when I returned home.

Only issue i encountered is a noise from creeping. By that I mean from a very slow speed (10km) to zero will develop a high pitch noise. I might modify the pads or try the other different types of pads. System should be properly lubricated and bedded in.

Hey, where did you find this? What was the cost on it? Thanks in advance!

So I finally found some reverse LED bulbs that I liked on Amazon from this company called MAXGTRS. These bulbs actually have a housing for the board.

Not bad , mines been holding up , pretty good . I believe there philips

andreigbs 11-20-2019 11:09 AM

Gents, T10 or T15?

JohnnyC 11-20-2019 11:37 AM

So the stock one is a W16W, 921, or T16 size. You can't use the T16 from this company because it is too long. You have to use the T10 version.

andreigbs 11-20-2019 12:10 PM

Thanks Johnny, that was my concern. T10 it is then.

Just did my engine and transmission mounts today with the help of a forum member here!

The transmission mount was very easy and quick; whereas the two engine mounts are extremely time consuming and challenging. I am using 204-240-35-17 and 212-240-10-18 as parts. The new transmission mount is much more stout and stiff than our original mount.

Hi did you do the steering wheel retrofit? I'm having issues with mine. I am trying to do a steering wheel retrofit from factory 2014 steering wheel to 2018 steering wheel for w222/s550. I've had a few people come and try to install with the adapter purchased from carsystems but the buttons aren't working the company says it's the wiring. Can you help?

JohnnyC 12-10-2019 11:09 AM

What are your part numbers? What buttons are not working? Are you certain you have the correct circuit board?

oluohab 12-10-2019 12:04 PM

This is the adapter that should make the wheel buttons function. But it seems like no one knows how to connect it properly even with the instructions. If YouTube w222 steering wheel adapter a video comes up where the new wheel is working using the adapter.

This is the new steering wheel.

JohnnyC 12-12-2019 10:20 AM

Can't help you there. Whoever did those crimps used the incorrect repair type/butt connectors. Looks really sketch in my opinion.Perhaps contact the aftermarket manufacturer for more information?
