Hello, I've been researching around on how to replace the spark plugs myself. I have a 2013 glk 350 with a m276 engine. I see many different posts that lead me to almost nothing. I've replaced spark plugs many times in other vehicles, but never a Benz. The only thing I can find is to remove the intake manifold, which is the last thing I want to do since this isn't really my car and I don't want to get myself stuck in such a task. On the left side (passenger side) I have to remove the air filter, which isn't a problem for me, but I'm just wondering to get in there do I actually have to remove the manifold? Thanks!

no you don't have too remove the air intake manifold / plenum / resonator. It gives you more room.

I was working on an extensive pictorial to do our spark plugs, but got sidetracked of the holidays.

Excellent, thank you. By any chance do you remember the exact type of plug you used? I was about to buy the "Bosch YR7MPP33," but wanted to make sure that was a correct fit.

EDITED - on 2010 glk, removed the intake, used a piece of hose to get the plugs started, wasnt anything too crazy otherwise.

Hey B737, I just revisited the spark plug procedure and this time I tried it without removing the air intake. It is without question more difficult for me because the there is less room to work with and you do not have as much visual of the spark plugs. I have skinny arms and the bank of cylinders with the ECU is VERY tight.

Are you taking into account that this is the M276 engine and not the older M272 engine? I envy the owners of the older engine in regards to changing out spark plugs.

I misspoke, i need to edit my post. the intake came off. i think the plugs were started with a piece of hose to get them going. was a while back on my friends 2010, I thought it was done at my place but turns out it wasnt, im getting old my apologies johnny

It's quite easy to remove the 276 upper plenum, but unnecessary if you have done it once or twice. The left side, there are 2 screws holding the M/E bracket which moves and gives a lot more space. I also remove the single bolt holding the top bracket of the dipstick tube, and then the rear cyl coil comes out easily.

The factory tool makes the actual plug change simple but any good socket will do.

Sorry for the delay, guys. This is for a 272 engine model, (I have the 276) you'll see that the intake was removed. This is especially useful for the driver's side which is a bear if you don't take it off. 14mm spark plug socket with 3" extension is necessary. I used Bosch ZR6SII3320 plugs.

Wouldn't you want to replace the big green gaskets under the intake manifold?
Are they OK for 12 years or 120K miles?

The seals are unlikely to be replaced at most shops. I doubt the dealer technicians replace them either.

They are not subjected to high heat like the lower seals. The green seals are upper.
