CarPlay 2015 GLK

Hi Guys,

I have looked around and haven't seen a concrete yes or no answer on this. I have a 2015 GLk 350 with multimedia package and wondering is there a software trick to get CarPlay to work or needs to be done with a hardware aftermarket unit. Also does anyone have any software hacks to copy MP3 from an USB drive and not just CD. It seems US models are limited on that.

Thanks!

There is no software trick, no. There are aftermarket solutions, some require a head-unit change, some can "break into" the system and use an overlay piece.

Not sure what kind of MP# hack you are talking about. i just move mp3 files over to USB stick and it reads all with folders. Some M4a files get tricky.

i only tried on the SD card. You just plug-in to the usb in the center console? Do you use iTunes or different audio player for your files?

Yep just a regular 16 Gig USB Flash. I have tried both ways sometimes just dragging files that are mp3 to the drive in a folder. But I did find if i export out of itunes that it does keep the album art and folder structure better. Both work. The raw Mp3 is a little sloppier because itunes catalogues it better. I find it a very enjoyable experience and have several pieces of music that are not on any of the streaming services. Give it a shot. You have about a $5 gamble.

The USB works to play music from, but I was looking to copy the files to the hard drive in the command unit. I can only do with CD's
