Is the GLK a forever type Mercedes?
I'm looking to buy a 2014 or 2015 CPO. I love the look, interior and drive.
Is this a vehicle that with proper maintenance can go 250K?
It will be used as my daughters get to school and work vehicle. And for our long trips too.
Thanks in advance.

How deep are your pockets? Nearly any modern car will go 250k miles if you are willing to pay to fix the things that break. However I do not expect these cars to make it with just oil changes and brake jobs. One of the members here was saying that after 100k he started having expensive repairs. Based on that and the fact that I like new cars every once in a while I don't intend to keep mine beyond 100k. I do not believe these cars will go the distance like the Mercedes of old.

the only car that will be forever is Japanese, with that car will take you greater than 250k as long as you keep up with the maintenance. With europeans.. well not so much. I had a BMW X5, 2003, pretty much well equipped (not "loaded" in any sense), first 5 years maintenance was covered so i took great car of it, once the warranty ran out, i reached 50k but the time 5 years hit, a year later i had major problems, battery and alternator went out, had that changed, would have that changed again 2 more times, had a oil leak that would never go away, had to change the rear light assembly on different occasions, the window wash fluid box, but i began paying for it to be running since i made some modifications to it, added the "M" steering wheel (super thick by the way), added the Aux jack, so up until the fateful day where it was totaled i was paying up the nose to keep it running, but i knew at the same time that the day i would part with it was coming, thus what im telling you is car will not last you forever, but you can sacrifice up until the point where you can pay no more, up to you

2010 350 closing in on 150k, no issues so far, was doing all the maintenance myself. will be changing the engine and trans mount soon, and flex discs, to give it a smoother feel. But other then that no complaints.

Somebody posted a sale add for a 200,000+ miles facelifted GLK350 a while back....
I think the GLK350 will age well. The second gen electronics are very reliable. The gasoline engine doesn't show up to have many problems; I know mine doesn't at 86,000 miles. Look online you will see tons of issues with the diesel and 4matic cars.
Any of these will increase wear on the car:
-parking outside
-hot environments
-very cold environments
-dusty environments
-short trips
-driving on salted roads
-not doing necessary maintenance

Hot Environments - Check, although I'm hoping to somewhere cooler.
Dusty Environments - Check, the Carr Fire's still going.
Thanks Johnny C....personally I like the thought of the 302 HP...but 30 mpg also sounds very tempting.

I have a 2013 GLK with 79,890 miles.
I really, really like my GLK despite the HORRIBLE Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) and the frequent CHECK ENGINE Lights due to a list of Bluetec related sensor/wiring harness issues.
(I do not have rear camera and I do not know if the Rear Camera/SBZA packaged GLKs have less issues with check engine lights.....)
In 5 years I have replaced DP (Diesel Particulate) Sensors just not filters, Brakes (routine), Run Flat Tyres (routine), Battery (routine) and very, very expensive NOX sensors ($2.5K repair - NOT ROUTINE) and still the CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS go ON!
I have covered parking, no cold harsh winters, no salt, no short drives, and I always use a sun visor even if the the temperature is in the 70s...
So NO, I do NOT think the GLK was made as forever car like the classic Mercs of the 70s and 80s even though I like my GLK I do not LOVE my car like I love the family Porsche Cayman S!!
