BTW, my 2014 GLK250 has an aux battery. It's inside the left side panel of the dash, by the fuse panel. As I understand it, it's purpose is to power the electronic gear shifter if the main battery fails.

Mine too, replaced the original one about 6 months ago. No issues before or since, I just thought I'd do it preventively.

Rumor has it, our Aux is for the ECO Stop/Start (which we don't use).

If you have ECO Stop/Start then the aux battery is involved. If, as I, you don't have it, you still have an aux battery, but it's smaller, and under the dash.
