2010 GLK 350 20" Wheels Lug Nut question
Hello all
This weekend I bought a new, to me, 2010 GLK350 with 20" factory wheels (I think they are factory wheels).
My question is the lug nuts look unusual to me.
Pictures are better than description
Lug Nuts
Are these lug nut cover? Each lug nut looks like it has a shallow 22mm cap, leading to a 19mm (??) lug nut.
I have not pried too hard to see if its a cap, but...
Is this normal?
The lug nut wrench in the factory tool kit does not fit. My 22mm socket does not clear between the LN and the wheel.
Thanks in advance.
Doug

Ok, answered my own question.
They are caps. I dont seem to have the cap removal tool, so I will keep searching. If I dont find it, I will do something to get the caps off without scratching the wheels.

Yep, bolt covers/caps.
They will come off by prying them by the flat edges just past the lip. The previous owner may have kept the tool that normally comes with those covers, so check the trunk area including under the cargo tray.
Otherwise, needle-nose pliers might also work.
My lug bolts have no cover, though I contemplated adding similar caps. I've read all kinds of things, including that those types of caps actually retain moisture which may lead to rust/corrosion (which is what I'd be trying to prevent by adding caps!).
For now, no caps.

VW/ Audi vehicles have nut caps. I bought the plastic tool to remove mine. Works great. I have black caps from when I owned a Saab 9-5 but you can also find them in gray for the same vehicles as the tool. 17MM.

So nice to have something to hide the ugly unfinished lug bolts which are OEM. Why does MB go cheap on this I dunno, just is. Glad to know the tool works for you!
