Dealer Service Records

I have always had my 2014 GLK250 serviced at dealer. I just had a look at the Service Booklet. It was only filled in after the first service at 11000km, but never since then.

Do others have this same experience at their dealers?

Seems to me that when selling or trading car, this would be important to buyer.

I do have the service invoices, but they have personal information and would not be passed on when, for example, trading car. I could fill in the book from dealer invoices, but shop is supposed to stamp them to show who did the service.

Service books are rarely/rarely "stamped" any more - on the Mercedes side your dealer service history is in the NetStar "VMI" record - and the VMI record "technically" is internal only since repair codes on the VMI can be misunderstood and to prevent leak of any owner info.

Well, that is what I have found. But it is not good for buyers of used cars. I would pass on my maintenance records to a new private buyer, but not when trading. I have filled in the date, type and mileage of each service in the service book as at least some record. Noted when things like fuel/air filter were changed as well as brake flushes.

Dealers should be keeping those books up to date.
