GLK DPF Removal and Installation Procedure

My CEL is on and the code is for the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). I've located a local company in Orange County, CA that can clean the DPF. I'm looking for either a step by step procedure or video to R & I the filter. Thanks in advance. Dan

You don't think that's a bit extreme as a first-time solution to the problem? I'm pretty sure you won't be able to pass emissions testing without a functioning DPF in place in Commiefornia.

There is a thread about it being done, by someone in Canada, search is your friend.

Better yet, maybe find out what the trouble code is, see if the DPF can be cleaned by forcing a regen cycle. There are other options to try first before attempting to remove the system.

You may have read more into the request than intended. I'm not asking about elimination. Just want to remove, clean the DPF and reinstall it. Looking for a procedure or video. Dan

LOL, it appears so, my fault.

I don't know if the filter is serviceable, as the big rig filters are, but I may be wrong.

If you have access to the Star diagnostic OBD tool (like MB dealers use) you may be able to force a regen cycle and get the DPF cleaned that way.

What is the trouble code it gave you?

They DPF can be cleaned and it worked for another member here about a year ago. But he had a shop remove it and sent it to a DPF cleaner.

It looks like it has flanges on both ends and a couple sensors screwed in so it should all unplug and unbolt depending on how corroded the fasteners are.

So the code is P2002 Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency below Threshold Bank 1. I have a Foxwell NT630 Scanner tool and can monitor DPF input and output Temp and DPF Pressure.

I guess my question is whether there is a manual way to put the DPF system into a Regeneration Cycle?

Thanks for the reply. The pic link does not work... DAn

So I have a scanner and can place the system into a regeneration. My question now is when I monitor input, output temps and DPF Percentage in the live data section what should the expected figures be?. I'm particularly interested in the percentage figure. Thanks, Dan C

DPF woes

I just had my glk throw the same DPF below efficiency code, I called around and found out they were a little costly but there was an 8yr 80k mike warranty on the emissions system. MB of Encino just swapped mine out no charge for a reman one this last week. I could be wrong but if you run it by the dealer you go to they should cover it no cost.

iCarsoft MB V2.0 DPF functions do not work on GLK250

Hey dofdear, which scanner do you have that can force a regen?

I have a iCarsoft MB V2.0 and that has DPF functions for Mercedes but none of the DPF functions work for GLK250 (just OBDC codes, no monitoring, info, live data or regen)

My scan tool is the Foxwell NT520PRO. While it can monitor many functions in real-time, including DPF indications, it can not force the regeneration mode. What I meant is that there is a procedure that will place your car into regeneration and you will know if by monitoring the temps in and out of the DPF. This is the procedure as relayed to me by my local MB service center foreman:

Drive cycle:
50 - 60 mph for 30 - 60 minutes
Accelerate to 65 mph
Coast for 25 second
Repeat 5 times

Hope that clarifies. Dofdear

Brilliant , an emissions device creating emissions .

There is no video, you can buy repair emanual (around 20$ and to install software its real headache) if you lift vehicle safely, if you have right tools then u can do it.
what i did;

Removed ecu and Airbox and all air intake tubes.
removed all conectiobs and brackets under airbox
removed upper o2 sensor.
removed clamp which conects Turbo and cat.
removed tire(put underneath for safety)
removed fender liner
Removed underneath plastic panels
Removed Dpf clamp near scr.
wigle cat dropped down dpf and cat as far as I could.
and torture begins:)
i dont know how u be able alone to open clamp which connects cat and dpf and to connect back?
Forget about it.

if someone tells me do it second time no never!
u need someone to help u.
On my drive two people lots of jack stand and with tools took us 5:30 to remove and put it back.
