Now that it has been several months, is that still the case...eg: no noticeable loss of power? I have a 2012 R350 and the dealer is telling me AEM is not yet available for my car. thx

Still waiting for my money which I expect in November. But I thought I'd post a recent experience on a short 400 trip recently. I was waiting for another vehicle to catch up with me before our destination and was driving at an unusually slow 65mph. 200 miles and I got 48mpg!!! Almost unbelievable! The return trip, in traffic and at my usual speeds around 85mph, got me 37mpg. At this point I see nothing different in the required mechanical and emission changes. The gear shift display has stabilized showing the gear with a "D" prefix while driving, and only a number for the gears when using the paddles to decelerate. Pretty clear and concise. Power is about the same, no discernible difference. I'm thinking I'll ask to be buried in this one!!

We drove our GLk for a few weeks after the AEM, then the CEL and some noticeable power loss. Took to the dealer and they charged $1300 for two new boost pipes / hoses. The hoses failed at the clamps. I was hoping this was covered under the extended warranty. I also suspect the tech removed or disturbed these during the AEM. Not sure I can prove it.

otherwise the car has been running fine. Just frustrating.

$1300 for two boost hoses?? That can't be right... Can it?

You realize the boost hoses, which are prone to fail, are about $120 each and takes maybe 30 minutes to swap out. How they got $1300 out of that is insane, but that's just me.

FYI, I had only the driver's side boost hose rip and the dealer failed to properly diagnose it 3 times in a row. They replaced a wastegate actuator, luckily for free, but never bothered to check the boost hoses on either side of the intercooler. I have little to no confidence in stealerships to do much else except what the book tells them to; there is no thinking outside the box or basic common sense involved.

Sorry you had to go through that, I would've made quite the stink about it.

$1300!!!

Yea, I priced up the hoses. I would have replaced them myself but I am without a garage or tools currently. We are building a new house and living in our 5th wheel at a resort..... no maintenance allowed.

Yes, I ranted too.

I had the AEM done on my 2014 250 GLK at the end of July. Everything seemed fine at first. Then about 2 weeks ago, I started to notice a lag when the car shifted. Last week, I had instances when it would only accelerate very slowly. Yesterday, the CEL came on. I had acceleration issue and CEL once about 2 years ago and it was resolved by taking the gas cap off and replacing it. So, I tried that (multiple times) and it did not work. I called the dealer and was told that they could get me in for service mid-November. What? Or I can take my car in now and leave it. They will get to it as they have time - probably 2 to 3 weeks. Oh, and they have no loaner cars. I'm really disappointed. I love my GLK. Now I'm worried it will never be the same. I'm taking it to my regular mechanics on Monday for diagnostics to at least see if we can figure out what is wrong, but I understand warranty work must be done at the dealer.

You most likely have a bad intercooler boost hose. It’ll be the drivers side. New boost hose is $120 and 30 minutes of your time to replace.

It'll be as good as new with the hose replaced. If you’re not doing it yourself, make sure you tell your mechanic to remove the hose for inspection as sometimes the tears/holes can be in a difficult spot to see if not removing the hose.

Yea I second this...

My boost hose got a slit in it, and the dumba$$ mechanics at benz missed it a couple of times, and they swapped out MAP sensors etc etc, until I was talking to the mechanic, and he walked me back to the car, and I actually saw the slit (cut/crack) it was hard to see, but I pretty much noticed it and said "Whats this" ?? - he just lowered his head and said yup....

(had to fight the dealership, as they still wanted to charge me the cost and labor on the MAP sensors) and or , wanted to dig back in the car and remove and put my old one back in... I I said HELL NO to both of those options...

Everything is still good no loss of power that I can tell. The CEL came on 2 weeks ago, dealer determined bad soot sensor and replaced it under emissions warranty.

Following up - had the AEM work done in April of 2021. Threw a CEL in August of 2021. Dropped it off at the dealer and the following is noted:

99397 NOX SENSOR AND AD BLUE IN TANK UNIT FAULTY 1360678--WARR--VERIFIED CUSTOMER CONCERN. CONNECTED SDS AND POWER SUPPLY AND RAN SHORT TEST. FOUND CODE P229FFE (NOx sensor 2 (cylinder bank 1) has a malfunction.) IN ME, CODES 205C16 (The temperature sensor 'AdBlue~ tank' has a short circuit to ground.), 203D17 (The AdBlue~ fill level sensor has a short circuit to positive.), 205B98 (The temperature sensor 'AdBlue~ tank' has a malfunction) IN SCR CONTROL MODULE. GUIDED TEST FOR THE NOX SENSOR IS TO VERIFY IT HAS GOOD GROUND, POWER AND COMMUNICATION, SINCE THOSE WERE GOOD THE NEXT GUIDED TEST IS TO REPLACE THE NOX SENSOR. REMOVED UNDER BODY PANELS, REMOVED AND REPLACED THE SECOND NOX SENSOR. REMOVED THE AD BLUE TANK. TESTED RESISTANCE OF TEMP SENSOR FROM PIN3 CONNECTOR X3 TO CONNECTOR X2 PIN 1, FOUND 1.7 OHMS, THIS IS NOT OKAY, SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE THOUSANDS OF OHMS FOR CURRENT TEMPERATURE. REMOVED THE DELIVERY PUMP AND REPLACED THE IN TANK MODULE. REINSTALLED EVERYTHING. CLEARED CODES.

$0.00 cost to me including Mercedes having my car towed from my house to the dealership. So yeah, the AEM warranty appears to cover a lot of work. Car runs like a champ again, no horrid smell or smoke. Just need to clean off teh crystallized DEF at the exhaust outlets.

Well, I've blown two different hoses. The driver's side on my '15 (at 16,000 miles) and the passenger side on the '14 (at 34,000 miles). The results were the same - loss of power and CEL. Thankfully both were diagnosed properly and replaced under warranty.

I also just noticed a split in mine, so suspicious that so many ppl after AEM are having same issue. Since it seems the hose is not a AEM warranty item, there is no point taking it to a dealer? just find a indy shop?

This guy makes the replacement look so easy, but I'm no so confident

No, the AEM won’t cover the boost hose. Not worth a trip to the stealer. You can buy the hose for $120 and the replacement is simple enough. Two spring clips hold it on, use screwdriver to pry open and pull off. New hose goes on in 30 seconds.

Anticipating our payment this month or December. MB Bluetec settlement is processing the first batch of 35K claims and Benz is reviewing before sending checks via first class mail. We submitted as originals owners in May, 2021.

indy shop quoted me $600 for the hose replacement. unfortunately have zero tools of any kind (no wrenches to remove cover), its winter and no garage so I'll suck it up.
labor shortage + inflation + demand is doing crazy things...

To have an indy do it for $600 is still high, considering the part itself is $120. So 4/5ths of the price is labor and taxes, I assume? That's a lot.

But I totally understand not having much of a choice, so get it fixed and motor on.

And we also submitted our AEM claim in April 2021, so I'm hoping to get our funds soon as well. I'll update the group when we do.

FYI - I dont know details yet, but I will be receiving a letter from the MB BlueTec Settlement office today. For reference, I'm the second and current owner of the GLK250 and submitted my paperwork on 4/13/21. When the letter arrives i'll be sure to let you guys know what i can.

***No check - it was just a letter about the extended warranty

**12/2 update - got another letter from the Settlement office today, but alas, no check. Just a 2nd copy of the warranty information.
