Options for replacing lost Key Fob?

Hi,

Lost my 2nd set of fobs. Wondering what's the most economical way to have this replaced. The dealer quoted me $500 for the Fob plus $150 to program. That seems ridiculously expensive for a key. I see that Used keys can be bought off eBay at much lower prices, but I don't know if this would work. Could I buy a Used Key then pay someone to have it programmed to my vehicle? Can local shops program keys or only the dealer? Dealer is telling me they won't program a key not bought from them.

This place is a joke.
The most economical way is $500 from the dealer and $150 to program. Do a search here, your question has been answered hundreds of times.

I dont think there is another way honestly. You might be able to get a key made but that's it. I paid in total about $550 CND for the fob WITHOUT the key. Best of luck to you.

Used FOB can't be re-programmed. New/virgin FOB can, and all the videos you see on eBay or YouTube of someone claiming they can program a FOB, they' always using a brand new FOB. Used ones, that were already programmed for another car, are only usable for their shell, in case your FOB shell got damaged. The guts (PCB, key) are useless.
