Clunking noise when accelerating/decelerating (Gopro Video underneath)
Hi,
I am having troubles with my GLK 220CDI from 2010. There is metallic clunking noise when I let off the throttle at slow speeds or when I accelerate slowly from a stop. I replaced the rear diff with no effect. Any ideas what it could be?

4wd ? My clunk was my front u joint , I had to replace the front drive shaft since I damaged the u joint case. so u joints , cv joints , don’t ignore it. Someone here a Week ago had his front u joint blow on the highway, he is looking at 10,000$ US for a differential and transmission- transfer case since the driveshaft spun and tore up both units. Take it somewhere and get it diagnosed while your there. Don’t let mb do it. You might need it on a lift with someone below listening while it’s shifted back and forth.

I didn’t see the video, but that looks like the u joint and sounds real real bad, I would not drive on the highway or hard. Get it diagnosed, FCP EURO has a lifetime warranty on parts, I got my driveshaft for about 350 and put in for 250, mb will want 3500.00

Read “Glk let me down” about 30 posts down. A guy with a similar issue now has to pay 10,000 or so to fix the damage a flailing driveshaft can do.
A simple 2$ U bracket could have prevented it.
