Seat Upgrade

Hello all,

First post here. I have a 2013 US 350 and not that I hate the seats but the bottom driver's cushion has some small tears in it and there's a weird looking spot on the other side (hard to describe...I know not very specific). Anyway I am not a fan of the MBTex material and was actually thinking of trying to find a different pair of seats from a different model that are leather. There was a similar thread earlier but I'm not sure about piggy-backing and seems like that one got off topic after one answer (which said to find AMG seat from a 204 car). Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what models can the seats come from?

I guess the other option is to actually just buy a new cover or new seat bottom. I am very picky/weird/**** with this kind of thing though so it would have to be OEM ie not the local upholstery shop nor OEM like. Does anyone know where to get a new seat cover or seat bottom (other than the stealership) or can recommend someone who can do the work and do it correctly?

Thanks!

Silver,

Thanks but I saw a couple of videos on YouTube. One being from one of their competitors (can't remember the name but they unfortunately don't do anything other than domestic cars). Anyway they were comparing their own cover to OEM to Richmond and it was very obvious, very quickly that the Richmond cover was really not even that close to OEM (different color on the carpeting, clips were different...so much so that they send a set of screws with the cover to "fix" the fact that their plastic clip isn't the right one, etc). Unfortunately I've been down this road before with seats and regardless of what they may say, there are few if any that can pull off an OEM look and that is an absolute MUST for me. Every time I open the door and see a not quite right seat cover it'll drive me absolutely crazy (totally OCD this way)!!!

I understand. I'm ordering a driver's seat bottom as mine is cracked and peeling. It's my work vehicle so I'm not too particular. If it was my BMW or SVX, it would bug me too.

This is the complete seat bottom with leather cover. Other colors are listed. The mbtex sest covers are listed separately. You could call their number to see if the leather seat bottom cover could be ordered separately.

OP,

Thank you for that. I might go that route if nothing else works.

However, I'm trying to see if there are other seats I can install.

Something like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/224957917285

I know these are out of an E series, but I'm trying to find out if these will work...or maybe something out of a C-Class, like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234556508018

I really would rather replace both front seats with something that is really nice and actually leather (even if used and with a little patina) versus spending that kind of $$$ on a seat cushion that I really don't like that much anyway. Since the front seats are where all of time is spent in the car, I'm willing to splurge to put in something nice as opposed to fixing the just ok factory seats.

W204 AMG seats should fit the rails. Seat height should be the only issue. Not sure about W205.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Not sure about any of the electrics working though and I would want to make sure no nuisance messages would be generated. Really surprised no one has done this yet...maybe I'll be the guinea pig.

I'm interested in going with some nice aftermarket seats, but want to be able to maintain the power rails and heated seats since this is my daily driver and it gets me through winter. I just did a set of Braum fixed back racing seats in my Audi which I love, but would be looking for a set more along the lines of Recaro's for my GLK350.
