Angry Hood Open Warning When Hood is Closed

I keep getting the "hood open" warning when it is completely closed on my 2010 GLK. I have opened and closed it so many times with plenty of force and I still get the same message.

Could it be something with the sensors? I noticed the driver side sensor had some tape on it. I don't know what else to do.

This randomly started after I got my battery and alternator checked at a local Advance Auto Parts.

Thanks

If you never noticed or had tape there before, could it be possible that the shop broke it?

The tape has been there for a while and never caused any problems. I was with the employee checking the battery at the shop the whole time, he did not mess with any of the hood sensors. He closed the hood like any normal person and from that point on I kept getting the "hood open" message and could not find a fix for it. I have now ended up taking my GLK to a local automotive shop so that the problem could be fixed. I appreciate your reply!

Sorry my reply wasn't helpful, but please keep us posted when they found out the cause.

It still makes sense to check the sensor. The fact that there is tape on it should be a red flag...
