Yeah, maybe not. 9/16" is about 10 thousandths bigger. Works on nuts, though; a 9/16" wrench is a little bigger than 14mm. If you had the coupling nut, there's be no problem filing a little off it. I know it does work sometimes, though.

My Rhinos give 8 inch lift. That would be about 5 degrees if my math is correct. Gear lubrication in the differential is okay as long as the ring gear is running in oil. But the pinion and output shaft bearings are where the level is critical. Too much oil and they begin to leak. Too little oil and they begin to run dry and will eventually fail. The difference is less than ½ inch.

Thanks for providing the detail. I just checked my Rhinoramps and it was shy of 7 inch lift. Hence the lift angle is arctan(7/108.5) = 3.67 degree. That said, it is hard to measure the diff from the angle given the differential assembly shape is not cuboid. IIRC, the amount of spill-out oil was trivial (it couldn't even wet a sheet of shop towel entirely).

At this point, I agree that we’re splitting hairs. I don’t think even I would recheck it at this point. And I’m really picky, It’s a little truck, not an airplane.
[No offense meant to the aircraft mechanics in this thread!]

While you were writing this response, I made the car level, opened the fill plug again (I noticed that the fill plug was under torque before I opened it yesterday; this time it was way much harder to open as I fastened it exactly 50Nm, and the car was not lifted!), and checked the level with an Allen wrench. The oil level was 2-3mm below the fill plug (note that the oil was cold). Do you think that this would be problematic?

I found this service manual (looks like an official one) from internet. Sharing FYI. I guess I need to change the oil or at least top it up.

2-3 mm isn’t much, but for piece of mind, go ahead and get a liter of MB differential oil from the nearest dealer using you VIN, because that’s what’s probably in it, and top it up.

Thanks! I decided to change the oil. Ordered two bottles of 001-989-33-03-09 that the dealership confirmed with my VIN.

Yea I was rude in my previous reply , it was wrong . I would have just replaced the oil . I did all my fluids at 70.000. Even though they are not scheduled. I bought mine used , and who knows what abuse could have happened in the past by someone. Also there is no easy way to check fluids levels and leaks , to me , leaks are a wake up sign to action .

Thank you, Mmr1. I agree that leaks need immediate action and it was good that there was no problem and I could collect experience on differential fluid level check (and change soon). Appreciate to your interests and advices.
