Sunshades Too Big
Does anyone else think the rear side window sunshades that they put into the SUVs are too bulky? On the sedans, you get nice pull-up shades that retract into the doors. With the SUVs, MB has this bulky unit that winds up the shade and sits at the front of the window, blocking several inches of view. Shades are a nice package but I wonder why they substitute the slim shades that retract into the door with these bulky ones. I'm not sure if I should order that option or not because of it.

Agreed with all comments above. Hurt visibility and look cheap IMO. Came with mine and I have been trying to figure out how to remove them but that would mean a new trim piece or two for the rear windows and more $ than the original option.

I got the electrified iPad dock package so I wanted the shades sort of as privacy to keep people from seeing through the windows and boosting the iPads when parked in a rough area. I don't know why MB changed the design. Probably they got cheap because I can't think of anything mechanical in the doors that would prevent them from putting them inside like in the sedans. Heck, at the GLS price point, and given the "S" designation they should give you the auto rear shades like in the S-Class. Disappointed.

I never thought they were to big or bulky....in fact, until I read this thread, this thought never crossed my mind. We have them on our 2014 and never gave me any annoyance. So we ordered them again for the 2017. I thought they were great for the kids and they loved them too.
